The input must switch to LOW, so that the internal test can be carried out. The light curtain will start testing its internal
safety functions. Within 5 ... 20 ms after the test signal goes from HIGH to LOW, the OSSD is switched off.
When this internal test has been successfully completed, no beam is interrupted, and the test signal switches from von
"LOW" to "HIGH", the OSSD status switches to "ON" (see Figure 14).
On the other hand, if the internal test detects an error, the GridScan/LR cannot be used safely and the OSSD status
remains at "OFF" (see also Chapter 5.1).
7.3

Outdoor applications

When the GridScan/LR is mounted in an outdoor application, its multi-scan feature ensures reliable operation under
normal environmental conditions. This can be done by connecting the gray wire to U
covered that no raindrops remain on the lenses.
The change using the multi-scan has an impact on the timing:
