KV OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. KV operating instructions
1.1 Appliance description
The safety assemblies KV 30, KV 307 and KV 40 serve as protection
for sealed unvented, electrically heated wall mounted DHW
cylinders, in accordance with DIN 1988 and in conjunction with
commercially available pressure taps to prevent overpressure. The
safety assembly comprises all components required to equip these
cylinders, in accordance with DIN 1988 or DIN EN 806.

1.2 Mode of operation
The volume of water increases as the cylinder is heated up. The
expansion water must drip over the safety valve and is routed
through the drain outlet. Never close water outlet.
Special benefits:
According to the German Steam Boiler safety regulations (TRD 721),
the integral safety valve only needs to drain resulting expansion
water volumes during heat-up.
Special structural measures, going beyond the scope of TRD 721,
allow the safety assembly supplied to safely drain the contents of
the cylinder, should the electrical safety temperature limiter fail.
1.3 Safety instructions
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of this safety
assembly must only be carried out by a heating contractor in
accordance with these instructions.

1.4 Maintenance and care
For safety reasons, vent the safety valve twice a year.
Open the top of the safety valve by turning the rotary cap anti-
clockwise. Water should then drain into the drain outlet. Repeat
the process two to three times.
A damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning all component parts. Never
use scouring or solvent-based cleaning agents.
1.5 What to do if ...?
... water is still escaping from the safety valve after completion of
the heat-up process: Call your heating contractor.

any new user, should the equipment change hands.

with any repair work.
