FEATURES
Recording simplicity
Merely insert a videocassette and depress one button.
Long playing time with a small videocassette
Recording and playback of somewhat more than two hours is pos-
sible with a small
Betamax
L-500 videocassette,
and three hours
with an L-750 videocassette.
"Logic control" system
The function buttons are feather light to the touch. The operating
mode may be changed without pressing the STOP button between
modes.
Picture search operation
To locate a particular portion rapidly, the tape may be advanced or
rewound at high speed while displaying the picture on the TV screen.
Variable playback speed
During playback, tape speed can be changed to any of these modes:
still, frame-by-frame advance, slow-motion and triple-speed.
"Vase recording
With the aid of the built-in digital timer,
a TV programme can be
recorded while the recorder is unattended. Recording may be started
at any time on any of the next fourteen days and stopped after a pre-
determined interval. In addition, programming of up to 4 timer set-
tings is possible.
Auto programme search function
The APS switch facilitates locating the beginning
of recorded
programmes.
Remote control
With the Sony Remote Commander
RMT-200 (supplied), you can
command the tape transport and select previously preset channels
up to 10 meters away from the recorder.
Camera recording
Camera recording can be made. The camera, equipped with the
Sony K-type (14-pin) camera connector, can be connected directly
to this recorder. The power supply to the camera, and the video and
audio inputs from the camera to the recorder are made through
only one connecting cable.
-\idio dubbing
"Audio (commentary, music, etc.) may be added to a previously made
video recording.
Full auto rewind
At the end of the tape, the tape transport stops and the tape fully
rewinds automatically.
Pause mode
The tape may be temporarily stopped in either record or playback
mode. With the PAUSE button, interrupted recordings can be made
with no noise marking the interruption in the playback picture.
WARNING
To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the set to rain or
moisture.
To avoid electrical shock, do not open the cabinet. Refer servicing
to qualified personnel only.
GENERAL NOTES
®@ Before operating, check that the voltage selector is set to your
local
power
supply.
Operate
only
with
the
supplied
AC
mains
lead; do not use any other type of cord.
@ This recorder is designed for operation in a horizontal
position.
@ Do not install the recorder in a location near heat sources, such
as radiators of air ducts, or in a place subject to direct sunlight,
excessive dust, mechanical vibration or shock.
@ Allow adequate air circulation to prevent internal
heat buildup.
Do not place the recorder on surfaces (rugs, blankets, etc.) or
near materials (curtains, draperies) that may block the ventilation
holes.
@ Keep the recorder and videocassettes away from strong magnetic
fields.
@ After
playing
tape,
remove
the videocassette
from
the com-
partment if the recorder is not to be used for any length of time.
Do not transport the recorder with a videocassette in place.
@ To disconnect
the cord, pull it out by the plug. Never pull the
cord itself.
@ Generally,
head
cleaning
by yourself
is not required.
Should
snow or streaks appear in the playback picture after having used
the recorder for an extended period of time, consult your nearest
Sony dealer.
@ Should any liquid or solid object fall into the cabinet, unplug
the recorder and have it checked
by qualified personnel before
operating it any further.
®@ Save the original shipping carton and packing
material; they
will come
in handy if you ever have to ship your recorder.
For
maximum
protection,
repack
the recorder as it was
originally
packed at the factory.

@ This machine is designed for recording and playback of PAL
colour standard. Recording and playback of video sources based
on other colour systems cannot be guaranteed.
Television
programmes,
films, video tapes and other materials
may be copyrighted. Unauthorized
recording of such material
may be contrary to the provisions of the copyright laws.
