• Twist the sanding disc by hand to ensure that the disc does not come
into contact with the spark screen.
• Tighten the screw securely.
• Repeat these steps for the second spark obscuration.
Do not over-tighten the screws securing the plastic inserts, as this
risks cracking the inserts. The spark screen should be set so that its
lower edge is within 2 mm of the surface of the sanding disc. The
spark deflector will need to be adjusted from time to time to
compensate for wear on the sanding disc.
INSTALLATION OF TOOL RESTS
Ensure that the grinder is switched off and that the power plug is
removed from the mains socket before installing the tool rests.
Tool supports (8) are necessary with every high-speed sanding disc to
assist with sanding. Never use a bench grinder that does not have tool
supports or if the supports are not properly positioned. The right and left
tool rests are included in the delivery. Be sure that the correct support
is fitted on each side.
• Fit the tool supports (8) to the inner walls of the grinding disc covers,
using the screws and washers provided (fig. D).
• Move the tool rests (8) a maximum of 1.5 mm away from the disc.
• Turn the sanding disc by hand to ensure that it does not rub against
the support.
• Repeat the described steps for the other side.
OPERATION / SETTINGS
CONNECTION TO THE MAINS
Before connecting, check that the mains voltage corresponds to that
stated on the grinder's rating plate (on the back of the grinder). The
grinder is a Class I (earthed) appliance and is therefore fitted with a
three-wire power cable with a plug with protective connection.
ON/OFF
Switching on - press button I of the switch (7).
Switching off - press button O of the switch (7).
NOTE: When sanding, use only the face of the sanding disc, never
the sides. Be aware that the workpiece material may become very
hot. It may be necessary to cool the material by immersing it in
coolant or water. Do not cool the grinding disc with coolant or water.
As the sanding disc wears, adjust the position of the tool rests so
that the distances between their edges and the discs are no greater
than 1.5 mm. Care must be taken to ensure that the workpiece to be
ground does not fall out of the hands and become wedged between
the support and the disc. This could cause the disc to break or cause
personal injury.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
ATTENTION! Always switch off the grinder with the on/off switch and
unplug it from the mains socket before adjusting or operating it.
CLEANING THE GRINDING DISC
Cleaning the disc also aligns the disc face, which increases its
effectiveness and prevents vibration.
• Take the disc equation tool (Figure F).
• Rest the disc levelling tool on the tool support (8), at a distance of
approximately 5 mm from the grinding disc.
• Start the engine and allow it to reach its maximum speed.
• Hold the disc levelling tool as shown in (Fig. F).
• Slowly bring the tool towards the disc and move it across the width
of the disc until the surface of the disc is level.
• Adjust the tool rest (8) so that it is 1 ÷ 1.5 mm from the disc surface.
CAUTION: Do not allow the disc levelling tool to touch the disc
before the disc has reached full speed, as it may be deflected, pulled
out of your hand and serious injury may result. Do not push the tool
harder to level the disc surface in one pass.
REPLACEMENT OF SANDING DISC OR BRUSH
CAUTION: Inspect the disc or brush before replacing, do not use
chipped, cracked, excessively worn or otherwise damaged discs or
brushes.
Disconnect the power tool from the power supply.
Ensure that the new sanding disc or brush has an allowable maximum
-1
speed of 2950 min
or more. Note that the nut of the left sanding disc
has a left-hand thread and must be turned clockwise when unscrewing.
The nut of the right sanding disc has a right-hand thread and must be
turned to the left when unscrewing.
• Remove the retaining screws and remove the corresponding disc
cover (4) (fig. G).
• Grip the sanding disc or brush securely (while wearing protective
gloves to protect your hands).
• Unscrew the wheel mounting nut and outer flange (Fig. H and I).
• Remove the worn or damaged sanding disc or brush (fig K).
• Fit the new wheel or brush onto the shaft, making sure that there is
a washer on each side, between the wheel and the flange, and that
the wheel or brush fits snugly, not loosely, on the shaft.
• Screw the wheel clamping nut back on.
• Hold the discs or sanding brushes while tightening the nuts.
• Take care not to damage the shaft threads due to excessive torque.
• Fit the disc guard (4) and secure it with screws.
• Adjust the setting of the tool rest and eye guard.
• Twist the grinding wheel by hand to check that it is free to move.
• Plug the sander into the mains, stand to one side and start the
sander, allowing it to run at full speed for a couple of minutes.
CLEANING
Corrosive agents, petrol or alcohol based cleaners must never be
used. The grinder must not be allowed to become damp.
• Keep the outer surfaces of the sander clean by removing dust with
a brush or compressed air jet from areas where dirt accumulates.
• Wipe the covers and housing with a soft damp cloth. A mild
detergent may also be used.
• Wipe the eye shields with a soft damp cloth, taking care not to
scratch them. A mild detergent can also be used.
• Any defects should be rectified by the manufacturer's authorised
service department.
