Applications
These starting and operating instructions are applicable to Engine Powered Diaphragm
Pumps specified on the cover. This starting and operating instruction must be used
together with engine manufacturer's "OWNERS MANUAL" .
Always start, run and stop the engine in accordance with the engine manufacturer's
instruction. The pumps are intended for pumping water that may contain particles such
as sandy, muddy water.
g
DANGER! The pump must not be used in an explosive or flammable
environments or for pumping flammable liquids.
The pumps conform to the EU machine directive. See rating plate.
The manufacturer guarantees that the pump will not emit airborne noise at operator's
location in excess of 96 dB (A) during normal operation.
m
WARNING! The pump must not be run if it has been partly
dismantled or if guards have been removed
m
DANGER! Do not operate this equipment in enclosed area, as
exhaust fumes are lethal .

temperature 40
C (105
F).
Do not pump corrosive liquids. Contact local authorities for assistance.
Motor
Do not run motor above 2800 rpm or 65 strokes per minute (diaphragm).
Material
Main pump parts are Aluminium, diaphragm is TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) and
valves are neoprene.
Handling
When transporting the pump ensure that it is secured and can not move.
m
CAUTION! The pump must always rest on a firm surface so it will
not tip over, roll, slide or fall. This applies to all handling, transport,
testing and installation.
m
CAUTION! Always lift the pump by the lifting hook on the middle
of the machine.
If the pump is stored for a long period of time, protect it against dirt and heat.
After a long period of storage, the pump must be inspected and water shall be added
to make valves seal properly before start.

Installation
Safety measures
In order to reduce the risk of accidents during installation and service work, take
extreme care and use common sense.
m
CAUTION! The lifting tackle must always be designed to suit the
pump weight. Weight can bee seen on name plate.
m
CAUTION! Do not reduce the size of the discharge or try to control
capacity by throttling the discharge, severe damage to the pump
will result.
Operation
Read the engine operator manual in order to understand proper starting and stopping
techniques.
Always start and stop the engine in accordance with engine manufacturer's
instructions.
m
DANGER! Do not use the pump close to open flame as engine
contains flammable fuel.
Do not smoke while operating the pump.
m
WARNING! Do not touch hot surfaces, particularly the muffler;
doing so may cause serious burns.
m
WARNING! Do not attempt to clear blockage or clean the pump
during operation. Rotating parts may cause serious injury.
m
WARNING! Do not stick hands or fingers in pump when in operation.
Keep hands and feet clear of moving parts.
Do not wear loose clothing that can become entangled in
operation.
m
CAUTION! Do not close down or restrict discharge hose. Be careful
of discharge hose whipping under pressure.
Make sure the suction hose does not leak and that the lining is not loose or it will
collapse under suction pressure and block the hose.
Priming time depends on the height of the vertical suction lift, the length of hose
between pump and water level and the speed of the pump.
The reasons that the pump does not prime or operate
can be as follows:
1.
Pump is too high or too far from water source
2.
Leaks in suction hose or connections
3.
Valves may not be sealing properly, try to put water into the suction
chamber to wet the valves
4.
Check diaphragm for breaks and/or leaks
5.
Do not allow any point of the suction hose to be higher than the
suction on the pump. A trapped air pocket can prevent priming
6.
The discharge line may be too small, too high or too long causing
excessive bulging of diaphragm on the down stroke, making valves
close with a load snap and the engine to overload and slow down.
Service and maintenance
Regular inspections and preventive maintenance will ensure more reliable operation.
Grease the pump connecting rod bearing every 25 hours of operation, (bearing is
accessed through the connecting rod guard). At first start up change transmission
oil after 40 hours of operation, use 5,5dl (20oz) SAE 80/90 EP gear oil. Check the
engine oil level daily before beginning operation. Flush out the pump with clean water
after every operation, and keep the interior of the pump and the valves clean. Change
transmission oil and inspect the pump every 400 hours. Remove the pump connecting
rod guard occasionally and clean the excess grease from the pump connecting rod
bearing.
For a complete overhaul of the pump, please get in contact with an authorized ABS
workshop or your ABS dealer.
