Using your own screw elements or protective
hoses with firmly attached screw elements can
damage the Rotoclear S3 housing.
Close the connection box with the cover (Fig.
9-J) and the 4 screws provided for this purpose
(torque 1.1 Nm) (Fig. 9-K) making sure that no ca-
bles are pinched or crushed.
Close the cable gland (Fig. 10-B) of the elec-
tric-pneumatic adapter to fix the power cable in
place.
Lay the power cable (e.g. via a trailing cable or
fixed routing) to the control cabinet and connect
the unit into the machine control system.
The Rotoclear S3 should be coupled to the ma-
chine's main switch and must operate continu-
ously to seal the machinery glass (see chapter
Purge air supply) and to provide a view of the ma-
chine interior. The constant centrifugal force can
only enable a permanently clean pane if vapours
and cooling lubricant particles that are still in the
atmosphere after machining are also repelled by
the centrifugal action of the rotor.
For example, for reasons of fire protection or in
accordance with standards applicable in your in-
stallation situation (e.g. IEC 60204-1:2019-06), it
may be necessary to earth the system. This ap-
plies in particular when using non-water-miscible
oils, flammable or explosive coolants.
Connect the protective conductor to the elec-
tric-pneumatic adapter with earthing hole (avail-
able as an option) and to all metallic parts of the
unit that could come into contact with the electri-
cal supply.
Be absolutely sure that all units are connected to
the same protective conductor.
There must be electrical contact between the
adapter and the screw connection of the pro-
tective hose. Otherwise, the screw connections
must be earthed separately (e.g. when using Tef-
lon tape). If a metal tube is used, it must also be
earthed separately.
We recommend earthing the metallic parts inde-
pendently of the environment and the coolants
used.
Special case: Replacement kit for S
and S2
As a rule, the existing power supply can continue
to be used (see also the section "Electrical instal-
lation").
The following types of Rotoclear S or S2 are con-
nected to the power supply on the outside of the
pane:
