Explosion-protected load-, main- and safety switches 25 A to 630 A; zone 22
2
Safety instructions
The operations must be carried
out by electrical suitably trained
in hazardous area with knowl-
edge of increased safety explo-
sion protection IEC/EN 60079-14.
The safety switches are not suitable for
zone 0, 1, 2 and Zone 20, 21 hazardous areas.
The requirements of the IEC/EN 60079-31
regarding excessive dust deposits and
temperature to be considered from the user.
The temperature class and explosion group
marked on the apparatus, shall be observed.
To ensure adherence to the temperature
class stated on the type label of the
apparatus, the permissible ambient
temperature, the rated terminal cross
section and the self-heating of the appara-
tus, that is mainly due to the power
dissipation, shall be taken into account (test
criterion for the self-heating is an
overload of 10%).
Prior to being put into operation, the safety
switches shall be checked in accordance
with the instructions as per section 6.
Before initial operation, any foreign matter
shall be removed from the apparatus.
The covers of the safety switches can only
be removed when the switch is in the "ON"
position.
Modifications to the switches or changes of
its design are not permitted!
The switches are shall be operated as
intended and in undamaged and perfect
condition!
The minimum conductor cross-sections of
the components have to be observed
accordance to EN/IEC 60947-1 and this
manual when connecting.
For replacing components, only genuine
COOPER CROUSE-HINDS GmbH (CCH)
spare parts may be used!
Repairs that affect the explosion protection,
may only be carried out by COOPER
CROUSE-HINDS GmbH or a qualified
"electrician"!
The national safety rules and regulations for
the prevention of accidents, as well as the
safety instructions included in these
operating instructions, that, like this text,
are set in italics, shall be observed!
3
Conformity with standards
The explosion-protected main-, load- and safety
switch have been designed, manufactured and
tested according to the state of the art and to
DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and IEC 80079-34:2011.
They are conform to the standards specified in
the EC-Declaration of conformity, enclosed
separately.
4
Field of application
The explosion-protected main-, load- and safety
switch are intended for use in potentially
explosive atmospheres in Zone 22 in accord-
ance with IEC/EN 60079-10-2.
The enclosure materials used, including any
external metal parts, are high quality materials
which ensure a corrosion protection and
resistance to chemical substances correspond-
ing to the requirements in a "normal industrial
atmosphere":
- sheet steel with plastic powder
coating
- glass-fibre reinforced polyester
- impact resistant polyamide
In case of use in an extremely aggressive
atmosphere, you can obtain information
concerning the chemical resistance of the
materials used from your Cooper Crouse-Hinds
(CCH) branch.
5
Application / Properties
The explosion-protected main-, load- and
safety switch are designed for the safe isolation
of the electrical energy at all poles while
maintenance, cleaning and repair work is being
carried out on equipment, machinery and drives
in potentially explosive atmospheres.
See technical data, for the temperature class,
explosion group and permissible ambient
temperature.
Due to the AC 3 and AC 23 A motor switching
capacity of the explosion-protected main-,
load- and safety switch, reliable isolation
(switching) is also possible during operation.
Due to the mechanical design of the he
explosion- protected main-, load- and safety
switch, compulsory opening of the contacts is
possible.
The explosion-protected main-, load- and safety
switches fulfil the isolating properties according
to IEC/EN 60947-3
The "EMERGENCY STOP" - design meets the
requirements of IEC/EN 60204-1.
The classification according to EN/IEC 62626-1
is given.
A built-in locking device prevents the opening of
the enclosure in the „OFF" position.
The data according to sections 3 and 4 shall be
taken into account during use.
Applications other than those described are not
permissible without a written declaration of
consent from Messrs. COOPER CROUSE-
HINDS GmbH.
During operation the instructions stated in
section 7 of the operating instructions shall be
observed.
The sole responsibility with respect to the
suitability and proper use of the control
switches according to the basic requirements
of these instructions (see technical data) lies
with the operator.
6
Installation
The relevant national regulations and the
generally recognized rules of engineering apply
for the installation and operation
(IEC/EN 60079-14).
