1. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop.
2. Move the mower into the grass; stop moving the
mower when the SmartWheel design is upright
(Figure 13).
3. Use the SmartWheel design to compare the tips of
the grass blades to the letters on the wheel. The
letter on the SmartWheel that matches the tips of the
grass blades is the proper cutting height.
4. Press down on the cutting height adjustment button
and hold the cutting height adjustment handle to
move the cutting height up or down (Figure 13).
5. Lift up or press down on the handle, and use the
cutting height scale to set the lawn mower to the
desired cutting height (Figure 13).

Starting the Engine
1. Hold the blade control bar against the handle
(Figure 14).
2. Pull the recoil starter (Figure 15) or turn the ignition
key as shown in Figure 16 (model 21027 only).
Note: If the mower does not start, contact an
Authorized Service Dealer.
