6.4 Opening the pressure cooker

Warning! Under no circumstances
should you try to open the lid with
force. Otherwise the extreme amount
of pressure could lead to scalds.
Warning!
When the red safety valve 2 is raised
up it means there is pressure in the
appliance. The pressure regulator 3
should therefore not be turned to the
setting Ø.
Caution! Never entirely immerse the base in
water. Otherwise the pressure will instantly drop
which can lead to the base as well as the food
being ruined.
Please note: The safety valve ensures that the
lid can be opened as long as there is no pressure
in the base. Only once the red safety valve 2 falls
back down can the appliance be opened.
There are various methods to cool down the
pressure cooker in order to be able to open it.
Method 1: Releasing steam
This method requires releasing as much steam as
possible until the pressure in the appliance has
decreased enough to be able to remove the lid.
Warning!
This method means that hot steam will
escape from the pressure regulator.
You should therefore be careful not to
scald yourself.
1. Remove the pressure cooker from the cooker.
2. Turn
the
pressure
regulator 3 to the
steam
releasing
setting
.
3. Wait until the pressure has equalised and the
red safety valve 2 falls back down.

Please note: As soon as the red safety
valve 2 falls back down, the temperature
inside the appliance is still almost 100 °C.
4. Slide the lock 4 forwards
and at the same time turn
the lid anti-clockwise until
the O markings on the lid
and the base grip are
inline with each other.
Please note: As soon
as the lock 2 slides forward it is possible that
any remaining steam may escape.
5. Remove the lid from the base.
Method 2: Saving energy
Method 2 requires the cooker to be turned off a
few minutes before the food has finished cooking,
leaving the pan on the hob. This uses the residual
heat optimally and saves energy.
1. Wait until the pressure has stabilized and the
red safety valve 2 drops down.
Please note: When the safety valve 2
drops down, the temperature inside the
pressure cooker is still around 100 °C.
2. Slide the lock 4 forwards
and at the same time turn
the lid anti-clockwise until
the O markings on the lid
and the base grip are
inline with each other.
Please note: As soon
as you press the lock button 2 down, it is
possible that any remaining steam may
escape.
3. Remove the lid from the base.
Method 3: Saving time
Method 3 requires you to remove the pressure
cooker from the hob once the food has finished
cooking. In order to be able to open the lid
straight away, the pressure in the base has to be
released manually. This method in particular
saves time.
