These settings lead to a higher degree of
effectiveness of the Bullerjan Free Flow FF18 and
the wood consumption is reduced. Also the flame
pattern is positively effected by this setting.
We would like to point out that your warranty
claim to the Bullerjan FF18 becomes invalidated if
you put too much strain on your stove by using
non-permissible fuels or by loading with fuel
quantities which are execessively large.
2.1.2 Heating-up procedure
Open the stove door and place 4 wood logs in the
middle of the combustion chamber and put up to
1 kg ignition wood directly on the wood logs.
Now light the ignition wood from above using an
ignition aid and close the door of the combustion
chamber. Open the primary air control and the
throttle in the stove pipe fully, the window washing
should initially (for about 10 minutes) be closed.
When this process is finished, slowly open the
stove door (to avoid smoke and ash turbulence)
and position futher wood logs on the embers.
Once this is burning well, your Free Flow has
reached its operating temperature. It can now
burn the recommended quality and amount of
wood (given in this manual) most efficiently. To
achieve that, the primary air control and the
throttle have be set according to given
specifications (see table on the previous page).
The same applies to the secondary air control.
Please consider that the ignition of additional
inserted logs always creates some delay (3–4
minutes), since the wood has to reach a certain
temperature first.
2.1.3 Air supply front and back
For the combustion air supply, Bullerjan
FF18 are equipped with an adjustable primary air
supply and adjustable glass washing system.
Additional combustion air is supplied through
tubes and the holes on the back of the stove
directly into the combustion zone.
By adjusting the slider the intensity of the air
supply can be de- or increased. For optimum
operation, the window washing system should be
opened as indicated in the table on the previous
page.
The rear secondary air supply is also adjustable.
Depending on the draught behaviour of your
chimney, it can be adjusted again here.
When heating and operating with nominal heating
capacity, the primary air valve must be open in
the fire room door (details cf. point 2.1.2). The
primary air supply should be closed completely or
almost completely only to maintain embers.
2.1.4 Window cleaning system
The glass cleaning system adjuster on top of the
door frame guides the secondary air along the
front glass downward to the flame. This way the
soiling of the glass can be successfully delayed.
However, soiling cannot be avoided fully when
burning solid fuels which naturally create soot and
therefore soiling does not constitute a defect
The intensity of the air supply is reduced or
increased by adjusting the slide regulator. Glass
washing should be opened for all FF18 types
according to the information in the table on the
top of the previous page.
2.1.5 Ash bed
stoves
®
Always leave a layer of ash - about 2-5 cm - on
the floor of the combustion chamber. Simply
remove excess ash with a shovel.
