Transmission device 4G IP module

6.1 General Information

6.1.1 Requirements for transmission paths

On intruder alarm systems in security classes A, B and C, the VdS defines more stringent require-
ments for the availability of transmission paths with regard to the raising of remote alarms.
The MB-Secure 4G IP USB extension module includes all the features of the IP USB communi-
cation module. Additionally, a 4G transmission module is integrated. In conjunction with the corre-
sponding MB-Secure licence option, connection/communication to control centres, SMS or e-mail
transmission is possible.
The 4G IP extension module complies with the current requirements of EN 50136-1 and VdS 2311 :
2017-04 in order to be able to connect to a control centre for emergency calls. The latest protocol
SecurIP (VdS 2465-2 : 2018-02 and VdS 2465-3 : 2018-03) with required encryption, as well as
the requirements according to 2471-S1 for IP one-way alarm transmission SP4 and IP two-way
alarm transmission DP4 are supported.
Requirement according to 2471 S1
IP one-way alarm transmission system SP4. The transmission path must be recognised accord-
ing to VdS2471-S1.
IP two-way alarm transmission system DP4. One transmission path must be recognised accord-
ing to VdS2471-S1. The second transmission path must at least meet the requirements of DIN
EN 50136.

6.1.2 Possible applications

6.1.2.1 Redundant transmission path
With the 4G IP USB extension module, a wired transmission path (via Ethernet connection) and
additionally a redundant wireless transmission path via GSM networks can be realised.
The following frequency bands are supported:
GSM/GPRS/ Dual band 900 / 1800 MHz
EDGE:
UMTS/HSPA+: Dual band 900 / 2100 MHz
LTE: Penta band 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 MHz
When setting up VdS applications, pay attention to VdS specification 2471.
6.1.2.2 Transmission path without redundancy
If only radio transmission is available, the 4G IP USB extension module (art. no. 057810) can be
used wherever monitoring of the property with an MB-Secure control panel and transmission of
messages is desired, but no wired transmission path for message transmission is available for
implementation, e.g. in weekend houses, chalets, storage rooms, boats, or flying constructions
according to VDE0100/0108.
