Operation

3.1 Commissioning and function test
3.1.1 Open the battery compartment on the device's rear side by sliding the battery
compartment cover in the direction of the arrow. Insert the battery in the
direction shown in the compartment. Close the battery compartment by sliding
the cover in the opposite direction of the arrow until it engages.
3.1.2 When taking measurements, the device must always be grounded. Connect the
device to ground through the grounding terminal. The DZ4 has a conductive housing; grounding through
dissipative footwear and floor is also possible.
3.1.3 To switch on the device, press the "power" button until the display lights up.
3.1.4 In the right corner of the display the battery status is displayed.
3.1.5 To switch off the device, press the "power" button until the display turn off
3.2 Measuring fields
3.2.1 To switch on the device, press the "power" button until the display lights up.
3.2.2 To adjust the zero point (must be done before each measurement), connect the device with a grounded
object, hold the instrument in one hand and place the other hand in front of the sensor. Press the button for
the zero point adjustment, the machine adjust automatically.
3.2.3 When measuring static fields you have the option of recording only the highest measured value. To do this,
set with the Mode button to MAX.
3.2.4 Point the sensor at the object to be measured and slowly move towards it. The red LED indicates when you
have reached the correct measuring distance (30 mm) (see Fig. 1).
3.2.5 Now read off the exact value (in V/30mm) on the display. By pressing the hold button the value shown on
the display is stored. A renewed push the hold button, the instrument returns to measurement mode.
3.2.6 To switch off the device, press the "power" button until the display turn off.
