Note: This Quick Setup Guide provides brief operating instructions for the new M400 2-wire
transmitter.
The new M400 2-wire transmitter must only be installed, connected, commissioned, and
maintained by qualified specialists e.g. electrical technicians, in full compliance with the in-
structions in this Quick Setup Guide, the applicable norms and legal regulations.
The specialist must have read and understood this Quick Setup Guide and must follow the
instructions it contains. If you are unclear on anything in this Quick Setup Guide, you must read
the Operation Manual available on the METTLER TOLEDO website. The Operation Manual pro-
vides detailed information on the instrument.
The new M400 2-wire transmitter should be operated only by personnel familiar with the
transmitter and who are qualified for such work.
Intended Use
The M400 is a 2-wire transmitter, with a 4 to 20 mA output signal and HART capabilities, for
analytical measurements. The new M400 2-wire is a multi-parameter transmitter and supports
the measurements listed in the parameter fit guide below. It is available as 1-channel version
and is compatible with analog and (or) ISM sensors. The new M400 2-wire transmitter is
designed for use in the process industries.
Additionally, the M400 2XH type 2 and type 3 transmitter are intrinsically safe certified and
suitable for installations in hazardous areas. For applications in hazardous areas refer to the
Operation Manual and Ex instructions (PN 30 715 260).
