Procedure
1. Insert the Restore USB stick into a free USB port of your IPC. Start the device.
You can find information on the Restore USB flash drive in the section "Scope of delivery of the software (Page 16)".
2. When the BIOS message to select the boot options appears, press the <F12> key.
After initialization has completed, a "Boot menu" is displayed.
3. In the Boot menu, use the cursor keys to select the (UEFI) restore USB stick.
4. After the info box has been confirmed, select your preferred language ("English" or "German") in the "Restore" menu.
5. Select one of the following options in the next menu:
"Restore factory settings"
–
Existing drives are deleted. The factory settings are restored. All data, user settings and authorizations are lost in the
process.
"Restore partition layout"
–
Only the partition layout is restored; no image is restored. All data, user settings and authorizations are lost in the
process.
If your system has multiple logical drive volumes, the following options are also available:
"Reorganize partition layout"
–
The use of the volume as system or data drive is swapped. No image is restored. All data, user settings and
authorizations are lost in the process.
If the drives are partitioned in the factory state of the computer, the following additional functions are available:
"Restore system partition (Windows only) "
–
Only the system partition C: is deleted and restored with the "A1 image".
"Reset drive(s)"
–
All existing drives are completely reset. All data, user settings and authorizations are lost in the process.
6. Continue the restore process and follow the instructions in the dialogs.
On completion of the automatic restart of the PC, the system is initialized.
7. Make additional settings in the corresponding dialogs. Read also the information on this in the section "Initial commissioning
and system restore (Page 17)".
A message appears indicating that the system restore is complete.
The system is then restarted automatically.

Hotfixes and security updates

The Restore package contains Microsoft security patches up to and including 12.01.2021.
To avoid the installation of incompatible updates, the local group policy for the following option has been set to "Disabled":
"Policies for local computer > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows
Update > Configure Automatic Updates". Depending on the information on this product available on the Support pages, you
are required to always request and install Windows Updates manually on your system.

Drive volumes and partitioning

Your device can be equipped with multiple drive volumes of various sizes, as single or raid volume of SATA SSDs or SATA
HDDs.
In the factory settings or when changing over the operating system, the drive volume with the highest performance is always
set up as system volume (SATA SSD > SATA HDD).
If your device contains multiple volumes, you can reorganize the partition layout to replace the system volume.
The Windows boot partition (Boot) is always at the top on the system volume.
