hedge trimmer so that the cutter teeth are at an
angle of approx. 15° in relation to the hedge. (A24)
- The twin-bladed cutters rotate in opposite
directions, thus enabling cutting in both
directions. (A25)
- It is recommended to tie a guide line of string
or the like along the hedge so that you cut the
hedge to a level height. Cut o˜ all br anches
which protrude beyond the guide line. (A26)
- Cut the sides of the hedge with curve-shaped
movements from the bottom up. (A27)
Working with reciprocating saw
Working with reciprocating saw
Change the cutter blade into saw set. And then
you can use the machine as a reciprocating saw.
- Firmly locate the supporting frame (a) at the
branch before cutting the branch with the
running saw blade. The supporting frame serves
as the centre of rotation. Continue the cutting
process with some pressure applied to the
machine, slightly pulling back the saw at the
same time. Locate the supporting frame at a
lower position and lift the rear handle again. (A28)
- Pull out the saw from the branch only with saw
blade running. This is to avoid jamming.
- Be aware of branches which are under tension.
Do not cut suspended branches from below.
- Be aware of falling branches.
- The saw may kick back if the blade tip
unintentionally touches trees or other solid
objects. The saw will be thrown towards the
operator in an uncontrolled manner. (Risk of
injury!)
- Cut the lower branches of the tree ÿrst. In this
way, cut branches can fall more easily.
- After having completed the cutting process, the
saw will suddenly fall o˜ as the sa w is no longer
supported by the branch. There is a risk of losing
control of the saw.
Cutting minor branches (A29)
- Apply the supporting frame of the saw to the
branch. This avoids jerky movements of the saw
when starting to cut.
- Move the saw from the top downwards through
the branch applying some pressure.
Cutting major and longer branches (A30)
Make a relief cut when cutting major branches.
- First, cut 1/3 of the branch diameter with the
saw bar from the bottom to the top (a).
- Then cut with the saw towards the ÿrst cut from
the top to the bottom (b).
Cut longer branches in sections in order to
become aware of the spot where they hit the
ground.
Cutting branches which is under tension (A31-
A32)
Cutting branch which is under tension requires
particular attention! Branch which is under
tension and from which tension is released by
cutting sometimes reacts in an uncontrolled
manner. This may result in severe injury.
A31: upper side of branch under tension.
Risk: branch is thrown upwards!
A32: lower side of branch under tension.
Risk: branch is thrown downwards!
Follow the instructions for cutting. Only trained
specialists are allowed to carry out such work.
If the upper side of branch is under tension, as
shown in ÿgure A31, you must ÿrst cut 1/3 of the
trunk diameter from the lower side, and then cut
the rest of the branch from the upper side at the
level of the lower cut.
If the lower side of branch is under tension, as
shown in ÿgure A32, you must ÿrst cut 1/3 of the
trunk diameter from the upper side, and then cut
2/3 from the lower side at the level of the upper
cut.

precautionary measures
precautionary measures
1. Observe your surroundings, always remove the
fallen branches before cutting, and always keep
the working area clean before operation.
2. Always keep the bystanders at least 15 m away
from the working area, especially for children.
3. Always wear a helmet, ear protection and
safety gloves when working with the pole-
mounted pruner. Also wear eye protection to
keep oil spray and sawdust out of your eyes.
4. Wear dust mask to protect against dust.
