■ Do not operate or continue
to operate the appliance if
– it has visible damage, e.g.
the supply cord is defective;
– it starts smoking or there
is a smell of burning;
– it makes unfamiliar noises.
In this case, you should pull
the mains plug out of the
socket and have the appli-
ance repaired (see chapter
"Service").
■ If the supply cord is dama-
ged, it must be replaced by
the manufacturer, its ser-
vice agent or similarly qua-
lifi ed persons in order to
avoid a hazard.
■ Connect the appliance only
to an easily accessible so-
cket, to allow you to dis-
connect it quickly from the
mains in the event of a fault.
■ Keep the appliance, mains
plug and supply cord away
from naked fl ames and hot
surfaces.
■ Do not kink, pinch or run
over the supply cord with
the appliance. This can re-
sult in a break in the cord.
■ Never leave the applian-
ce unattended while the
mains plug is connected to
the socket.
■ Never pull the mains plug
out of the socket by the
supply cord, always hold
the mains plug itself.
■ In the event of a fault, and
before cleaning and main-
tenance (e.g. changing fi l-
ter), always pull the mains
plug out of the socket.
■ Never touch the mains plug
with wet hands.
■ Ensure that no water seeps
into the appliance. Never
immerse the appliance in
water.
■ Only insert the mains plug
into the socket if all appli-
ance components are com-
pletely dry.
