Putting into operation
Carry out all steps in the specified sequence.
4.1
Mounting the carbon fibre brush, Fig. 3
1 Remove the screw sleeve and push the insulating sleeve underneath
and back.
2 Fasten carbon fibre brush with two open-end spanners. Counter the
adapter to prevent damage to the handle.
4.2
Connecting the earth clamp, Fig. 4
1 Attach the ground clamp to the workpiece. Ensure good contact and
a tight fit. If required, clean the point of contact beforehand.
5
Operation
Distilled or demineralized water and clean paper towels are also needed for
operation.
5.1
Adjusting the length of the carbon fibre tips, Fig. 5
1 Turn the screw sleeve until 10 mm of the carbon fibre tips protrude from
the screw sleeve.
5.2
Preparing the required liquids
1 Fill electrolyte from storage bottle into the wide-necked container
(approx. 15 mm). Close the storage bottle.
5.3
Cleaning the weld seam
WARNING
Risk of burns from hot surface
The workpiece becomes very hot during the cleaning/polishing process.
► Do not touch the surface. Wear the correct protective gloves.
► Cool the workpiece by rinsing it.
1 Plug in the mains plug and switch on the device at the main switch. The
green indicator light illuminates.
2 Set the function switch to <Cleaning> (ABICLEANER 1000 AC/DC only).
3 Briefly dip the carbon fibre brush into the electrolyte and allow excess
electrolyte to drip off.
4 Place the carbon fibre brush vertically on the weld seam. Brush over the
workpiece several times with light pressure and circular movements until
the weld seam is completely cleaned. Rinse the cleaned surface
immediately with water from the spray bottle.
5.4
Polishing the weld seam (ABICLEANER 1000 AC/DC only)
WARNING
Risk of burns from hot surface
The workpiece becomes very hot during the cleaning/polishing process.
► Do not touch the surface. Wear the correct protective gloves.
► Cool the workpiece by rinsing it.
1 Plug in the mains plug and switch on the device at the main switch.
The green indicator light illuminates.
2 Set the function switch to <polishing>.

3 Push the insulating sleeve fully forward over the spanner flat and mount
the screw sleeve.
4 Insert the high-current plug of the carbon fibre brush into the black high-
current socket until it clicks.
2 Insert the high-current plug of the earth clamp into the red high-current
socket until it clicks.
2 The carbon fibre tips wear out during operation. Readjust the screw
sleeve regularly.
2 Fill distilled or demineralized water into the spray bottle.
5 Dip the carbon fibre brush in electrolyte at regular intervals, move back
and forth two to three times, and press the fibres on the bottom of the
wide-mouth container. This removes dissolved oxides and cools the
electrode.
6 Dry the workpiece with clean paper towels.
3 Carry out the polishing process in the same way as the cleaning process.
The polishing process takes longer than the cleaning process. Therefore,
rinse the workpiece with water in between to avoid overheating.
4 Dry the workpiece with clean paper towels.
