Application areas

The contacter HTA 423 is an
electronic limit switch. It is used to in-
itiate alarm signals at preset
measured values when connected to
a continuous measurement system
(with analogue output). E.g. minimum
and maximum levels in silos and
pump and valve control.

Safety notes

This unit is meant for panel and
cabinet installation.
It complies to the safety requirements
to EN 61 010 - 1 / VDE 0411 Part 1
and has left our works in perfect and
safe condition. Safe operation can
only be guaranteed if all hints and
warning notes in these operating
instructions are heeded.
-
The unit is only to be operated in
an installed condition.
-
Installation and connection must
only be done by skilled and quali-
fied personnel. Please take care of
any required access protection.
-
A power isolator with fuse must be
installed within reach of the unit
(current requirement < 10A)
The HTA 423 consists of the following
Function
functional modules:
a) Power supply with operational
indication using a green LED
b) Signal processing unit with selec-
table input signals of: 0/4 ... 20 mA, 0
... 1/10 V. Signal range selection is
done using switches positioned be-
hind the hinged front panel.
c) Evaluation circuit with switch state
indication using red LED and output
relay. Switch positions presettable
using trimmer potentiometers.
d) Min.-/Max.- fail-safe modes selec-
table using links on the terminal strips.

First check that the power supply
to be used corresponds with that
on the unit legend plate.
-
If it is assumed that the unit cannot
be safely operated (visible da-
mage) it must be immediately ta-
ken out of operation and secured
against unintentional use.
-
There are no components in the
unit that can be repaired by the
user. All repairs must be done by
trained service personnel.
Two forms of fail-safe switching mo-
des are available:
Maximum fail-safe: The relay de-
energizes if the upper limit set point
is reached or power to the unit fails. If
this mode is required a link must be
connected between terminals 12 and
13.
Minimum fail-safe: The relay de-
energizes if the lower limit set point is
reached or power to the unit fails. If
this mode is required terminals 12
and 13 must be open circuit (remove
the link).

Single point controller:
Should the HTA 423 be used as a sin-
gle point controller the switch identi-
fied as "H" must be set to "Aus". The
required set point is then set using
only the lower set point potentiometer
(P2). Hysteresis is approx. 1.5 %).
