6 Operation

Basic adjustment of the input channels

1)
First set all gain controls, equalizer controls and the crossfader to mid-position. Set the assignment
selectors to the position "MASTER".
2)
Use the input selector to select the input to which the audio source is connected.
3)
Feed an audio signal (test signal or music piece) to the channel and advance the channel fader to
approx. 2/3 of its maximum. Set all other channel faders to zero.
4)
To monitor the signal via the speaker of a PA system connected, advance the master control to approx.
2/3 of its maximum. The signal can also be monitored via headphones.
5)
Via the LED meter, control the level of the channel with the corresponding gain control. If the red LED of
the meter lights up, there is an overload of the channel and the level of the input signal must be
reduced.
6)
Repeat the steps for the other connected input channels as described above.

Basic adjustment of the output channels

1)
The LED output meter indicates the level of the signal at the master outputs. Via the output meter,
adjust the desired level with the master control. Usually an optimum level control is obtained if the
output meter shows values in the 0 to +3 dB range at average volume. However, if the output level at
the master outputs is too high for the following unit, the master signal must be controlled to a
corresponding lower level.
2)
Adjust the desired signal level for the output BOOTH with the control BOOTH LEVEL.
3)
The digital master signal at the USB port and the recording signal at the recording output REC is taken
off ahead of the output control, i.e. it is not affected by the master control.

Crossfading between two channels/mixing the signal sources

1)
Select the two signal sources for crossfading with the two assignment selectors.
2)
Set the faders of the channels not used to zero and control the two channels selected to an optimum
level with their faders.
3)
Now crossfading between the two channels selected is possible:
• crossfader moved to the left: fade-in of the channel switched to the left side of the crossfader and
fade-out of the channel switched to the right side of the crossfader
• crossfader moved to the right: fade-in of the channel switched to the right side of the crossfader and
fade-out of the channel switched to the left side of the crossfader
• For hearing the signals of the two channels at the same level, set the crossfader to mid-position.
4)
For mixing the signals of the other input channels to the music program, advance the corresponding
faders accordingly.
5)
The selector switch CURVE allows for adjustment of the crossfading characteristic: Use the left position
for sharp crossfading (e.g. for scratching and cutting) and the right position for smooth crossfading (e.g.
for long mixes). Do not use this switch while a signal is present as this may cause a sudden change in
volume.

Announcements via the DJ microphone

1)
To switch on the DJ microphone set the selector switch to "ON". The LED indicator lights up.
2)
To improve the audibility of an announcement during the current music program activate the talkover
function. Set the selector switch to "TALKOVER"; then during a microphone announcement, the levels
of channels 1-4 are automatically attenuated.
3)
Adjust the volume of the microphone announcement with the GAIN control and optimize the sound with
the tone controls HIGH and LOW.
4)
To switch off the DJ microphone set the selector switch to "OFF".
