Putting into operation
The engine is supplied without oil. Start the
engine only after filling the oil tank and do not exceed the
maximum oil level in any case (see the engine operating
instructions).
Please read the attached manual of the engine
manufacturer before putting the appliance into operation.
Close the petrol tap (if available) before filling
the tank (pic. 16).
Prepare the fuel and refuel outdoors only.
Keep the fuel in an appropriate and tightly
sealed container.
Starting and stopping the engine
Strictly follow the instructions of the previous
chapter "Basic safety measures".
Notice: Detailed instructions for engine use and
maintenance can be found in the attached manual of the
engine manufacturer.
Instructions for engines with air control on the gas lever
(pic. 17-18)
The lever controls the engine speed. For cold starting, the
lever must be in the MAX position

Instructions for engines with a gas feed pump
The lever controls the engine speed. For cold starting, the
lever must be put in the MAX position
press strongly (3 times) the primary pump plunger (pic. 31)
and start the engine. If the engine does not start due to the
lack of fuel, refuel and press the primary pump plunger 3
times. Notice: generally, pressing the primary pump plunger
when starting a hot engine is not necessary. The bar mower
achieves best outputs in the MAX position
Starting the engine
Caution! Do not touch any lever (for knife or wheel
drive) when starting the appliance.
Take stand next to the appliance and assume a
stable position in a sufficient distance from the
knives.
Open the petrol tap (if available) (pic. 15)
Grab the starting cable (pic. 23) and pull it out to
the full extent until the engine starts.
Stopping the engine
Release the wheel and knife drive lever.
Put the gas lever (pic. 17-19-22) to STOP.

Using the bar mower
Remove all foreign items from the ground.
Start the engine (see "STARTING AND STOPPING
THE ENGINE")
Hold the guide rod firmly with both hands (pic. 24).
Forward movement of the appliance
To enable forward movement of the appliance,
press the wheel drive lever (pic. 24 pos. 1). The
appliance will be standing if you release the lever.
Caution! If the appliance is moving forward and
the drive lever is not pressed, it must be immediately
stopped and an authorised customer service contacted.
Movement of knives
To prevent unintentional (and dangerous) starting of knives,
you need to proceed as follows:
Release the drive lever and put the safety lever up
(pic. 24 pos. 2)
Pres the drive lever fully down and knives start
moving (pic. 24 pos. 2).
Caution! If knives are moving and the lever is not
pressed, the appliance must be immediately stopped and
an authorised customer service contacted.
Cutting height adjustment
Caution! Adjustment must be provided when the
engine is switched off!
Loosen the locking screws of seating shoes to
adjust the cutting height (pic. 27)
Turn the seating shoes up (pic. 28) to ensure low
grass cutting.
Turn the seating shoes down (pic. 29) to ensure
high grass cutting.
After reaching the desired height, tighten the
locking screws of seating shoes again (pic. 27)
Residual risks and protective measures
1. Mechanical residual risks:
•
Cutting:
Rotating knives may cause serious cutting injuries or
even amputate parts of your body.
Protective gloves should always be worn. Never
touch inside the appliance when running.
•
Getting caught, winding-up:
Strings, wires or pieces of clothing may wind on the
knives.
Remove all foreign items from the place of your
work, keep a sufficient distance from fences and wear
closefitting clothes.
2. Electrical residual risks:
•
Direct electrical contact:
You may be exposed to electric shock when touching
the socket plug when the engine is running.
Do not touch the socket plug when the engine is
running.
3. Thermal residual risks:
• Burns, chilblains:
Touching the exhaust may cause burns
