It is not always necessary to call out a service engineer. In a lot of cases you should be able to resolve the pro-
blem yourself. The following table contains a number of useful tips on how to do so.
Fundamental information:
Work on the cooker electrics or the gas fittings should only be carried out by a suitably qualified person. Before any such
work is begun, the appliance must always be isolated from the mains electricity supply, for example, by switching it off at
the main fuse box for your accommodation.
If the built-in gas cooker has to be withdrawn from the cupboard unit, the qualified person undertaking the repair must first
undo all connections between the cooker and the gas hob. This includes the telescopic linkage connecting the burner con-
trol knobs as well as the electricity and gas connections between hob and oven.
What to do ...
... if there is an overall power failure.
... if liquids or thin doughs flow to
one side of the pan.
... if a fault occurs with electronically
controlled functions.
... if the underside of cakes or pies
baked directly on a tray is too light.
... if the underside of cakes or pies
baked in a tin or dish is too light.
... if the cake is too dry.
... if the cake is still uncooked or
doughy inside or meat is not roasted
all the way through.
... if the underside of cakes or bis-
cuits is too dark.
