Before beginning installation procedures,
these installation and operating instruc-
tions should be studied carefully. The in-
stallation and operation should also be in
accordance with local regulations and ac-
cepted codes of good practice.

1. Delivery and transportation

GRUNDFOS 3" booster modules BMQ and BMQE-
NE are supplied from the factory in proper packing in
which they should remain until they are to be in-
stalled. The modules are ready for installation.

2. Applications

The GRUNDFOS booster modules are designed for
the following applications:
• Water treatment systems.
• Pressure boosting systems.
• Closed circulation systems with a high static pres-
sure.
• Environmental technology.

2.1 Pumped liquids

Page
The booster modules must not be used for
the transfer of inflammable liquids such as
4
diesel oil, petrol or similar liquids.
4
4
BMQ:
4
The booster module is designed for pumping thin,
5
clean, non-aggressive, non-explosive liquids, not
5
containing solid particles or fibres.
5
The liquid must not attack the pump materials chem-
5
ically or mechanically.
BMQE-NE:
6
The booster module is designed for pumping thin,
7
clean, non-explosive liquids, not containing solid par-
7
ticles or fibres.
7
These booster modules are suitable for pumping
7
contaminated or hydrogen-carbonate containing
8
water, e.g. from
8
• dumps,
8
• chemical depots,
8
• industrial areas,
8
• oil and petrol filling stations,
9
• environmental applications.
9
10
Lime precipitation:
10
Note: If the booster module is used for pumping liq-
uids with
10
• a high lime content or
10
• high temperatures resulting in intensified lime pre-
cipitation,
it is recommended
• to service the booster module at short intervals
and
• to keep the inlet pressure, at a given temperature,
higher than the value indicated by the curves on
page 27,
in order to ensure maximum life of the module.
Note: If liquids with a viscosity higher than that of
water are to be pumped, please contact GRUND-
FOS.
pH values:
BMQ:
5 to 9.
BMQE-NE: Please contact GRUNDFOS.
Liquid temperature:
The temperature of the pumped liquid must not
exceed +40°C (~ +104°F).

3. Technical data

Supply voltage:
1 x 200-240 V -10%/+6%, 50/60 Hz, PE.
1 x 110-115 V -10%/+6%, 50/60 Hz, PE.
Operation via generator: As a minimum, the genera-
tor output must be equal to the motor P
+ 10%.
Starting current:
The motor starting current is equal to the highest
value stated on the booster module nameplate.
[kW / hp]
