Similarly, when the waffles are cooking, the waffle iron may open
up during cooking due to a release of steam. This is perfectly normal
and will have no impact on your waffles' cooking.
When the red light switches off, you can open your appliance.

WARNING: Cooking waffles is a subtle art in which any minute
change in proportions or temperature for the batter may lead to
differences in aspect and taste.
In no case may any discrepancy with your preferred taste be
