B - Air outlet via an air duct
The exhaust duct should be as short and straight as possible.
To avoid noisy operation or reduced air extraction capacity, the air exhaust duct must be at least 120
mm in diameter.
Use / make wide radius bends. Tight radius bends reduce the hood extraction capacity.
Use only smooth ducts or flexible ducts in non-flammable material for the exhaust air duct.
If the exhaust air duct follows a horizontal path, maintain
a minimum downward slope of 1 cm per metre or 2°
inclination angle towards the outside. Otherwise,
condensate could trickle back into the cooker hood
motor.
If the exhaust air is routed to an exhaust air flue, the end of the inlet fitting must be oriented in the
direction of the airflow.
If the exhaust air duct is installed through rooms at low temperature, on wall brackets, etc., a significant
temperature drop may occur in the single sections of tubing, with sweating or condensate production.
For this reason, the air exhaust duct must be insulated.
In some cases a condensate trap (available from the main construction materials suppliers) should be
installed in addition to adequate insulation.
