2 - SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

2.3 - General installation conditions

IMPORTANT: units must have a disconnection
device upstream (for example a double-pole circuit
breaker). If necessary, an easily operated emergency
stop device (such as a punch-button switch) must
deenergize all equipment. These safety devices
shall be sized and installed in accordance with IEC
Recommendation 364, corresponding to Europe HD
384, France NFC 15 100 and UK IEE Wiring
Regulations.
In general terms the following rules must be applied:
Upstream over-voltage protection
Size (42ET)
Without Elec. Heater
Size 2
Size 3
Size 4
Size 5
- Electrical connections must be made according to
the connection diagram provided with the unit and
the installation and operation manual of the
controller. An extract of the diagram is shown in
figure 6.
- Units must be provided with over-voltage
protection upstream (not supplied).
- The power disconnection device must be clearly
labelled to identify which items of equipment are
connected to it.
- The wiring of the components which make up the
different control systems and the communication
buses must be carried out in accordance with the
latest rules and regulations by professional
installers.
- The power supply cable must be doubly insulated,
at least 3G1.5 mm
and fixed using a cable clamp.

- All the connection cables and accessory cables
must be H05 VV-F type.
- The electrical components must be installed in an
environment which conforms to their index of
protection (IP).
- The maximum level of pollution is normally
pollutant (level 2) and installation category II.
- The low-voltage wiring (communication bus) must
be kept physically separate from the power wiring.

- In order to avoid interference with the connecting
cables:
• Keep low-voltage wiring away from power
cables and avoid using the same cable run (a
maximum of 300 mm in common with the 230
V a.c., 30 A cable).
• Do not pass low-voltage wires through loops in
the power cables.
• Do not connect heavy inductive loads to the
same power supply (circuit breaker) used by
the controllers, power modules or speed
controllers.
• Use the recommended shielded cable type and
make sure all cables are connected to the
controllers and power modules.
- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced
by the manufacturer, the installer or a similarly
qualified person to avoid risk
2.4 - Caution for the control of the
unit
IMPORTANT: It is not permitted to connect several
units to the same control device. The A&B type
electronic thermostat for AC motors requires an
additional accessory board to allow master/slave
operation. Refer to the instructions in the
thermostat's installation manual.

2.5 - Compliance

This equipment is in compliance with the essential
requirements of the following European directives:
- Electromagnetic compatibility: 2004/108/EC,
- Low-voltage directive: 2006/95/EC.
- Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive:
2011/65/EC
