16.0 FUNCTIONS OF THE TRACTOR DRIVER

Pay particular attention to the safety regulations in points 8.1 and 8.12.
Before starting work decide with the operator(s) on a "start" and "stop" signal.
Adjust to the required speed by means of the gear change, keeping at the lowest possible rpm.
Make certain that the tractor's exhaust fumes are not directed at the operators and that the silencer is
completely efficient. By adhering to the above instructions, it is possible to work with limited noise levels,
thus facilitating communication between the operators and the tractor driver.
The transplanter should preferably be lowered while the tractor is moving slowly, to avoid as much as
possible that topsoil accidentally enters the ploughshares.
-AVOID REVERSE MOTIONS WITH THE TRANSPLANTER STILL ON THE SOIL.

17.0 WORK CYCLE

To maintain an optimum sequence between dropping the plant from the distributor (fig. 9A) and
expulsion from the ploughshare (fig. 9B) it is necessary to deposit at least 30 plants a minute in
each row.

18.0 PHASING THE EXPELLER

When the plant descending from the drop tube reaches the ploughshare (fig. 9C.), the expeller (fig. 9B)
must be in the retracted position, and must only then begin its outward pushing stroke. If, for any reason,
high or low speed transplanting is permitted, the correct expulsion phasing can be maintained by adjusting
the rapid phasing device (fig. 10).
-Release the two screws (fig. 10A)
-Turn the distributor (fig. 10B):
-Tighten the screws (fig. 10A) on completion of adjustment.
The appropriate reference notches (fig. 10C) make it possible to achieve correct adjustment in each
transplant unit.

19.0 TRANSPLANTING UNIT WHILE OPERATING

19.1- use the drive wheel (fig. 11A) register (fig. 11L) to move the four-bar linkage to the middle of its range
(fig. 11M)
19.2- the front flex wheels (fig. 11P) have two very important functions:
1) they ensure that the transplanting unit is always horizontal (fig.11C) The perfect adjustment can be
obtained by using the register (fig. 11I)
2) they even the ground, thus enhancing the furrow-opening ploughshare quality of work; the flex wheels
weight can be adjusted by using the reversible spring (fig. 11S) with the adjusting hand wheel (fig. 11N)
19.3- make sure that a swinging space of about 2 cm is left between the beam rabbet and the linkage (fig.
11B)
19.4- a good distributor horizontality (fig. 11H) optimises transplanting. Operate the adjustable arm of the
3° tractor point fastened to the linkage (fig. 11Q).
20.0 TRANSPLANTING DEPTH (fig. 11D)
Operate the proper register (fig. 11G)
- deeper: turn clockwise (fig. 11E)
- less deep: turn counter-clockwise (fig. 11F)

21.0 RIDGING INTENSITY

The settling wheel position (fig. 12F) can be adjusted with respect to the ploughshare (fig. 12C) by using
the hand wheel (fig. 12G)
- compacted soil: wheels further ahead (fig. 12D)
- loose soil: wheels not so ahead (fig. 12E)
21.1-The distance between the settling wheels of each row can be adjusted by using the linkage (fig.12H)
- closer: greater compacting
- farer: lighter compacting
21.2- Pressure to the settling wheels
Higher pressure:
Lower pressure:
TOP 24
-clockwise to ADVANCE
-anti-clockwise to DELAY
registers (fig. 11N - fig. 12A) are very tight
wheel (fig. 11P) very high.
registers (fig. 11N - fig. 12A) completely loose
wheel (fig. 11P) very low.
