▶ Always unload the tool (remove the battery, gas can and nails) before cleaning, servicing, and repair
work, before a break in your work, and for storing the tool.
▶ Store unused gas cans and tools that are not currently being used in a dry place where they are not
exposed to moisture and excessive temperatures.
▶ To ensure that the tool functions faultlessly and as intended, always check the tool and accessories for
possible damage before use. Check that moving parts function faultlessly, without sticking, and that
no parts are damaged. All parts must be fitted correctly and fulfill all conditions necessary for correct
operation of the tool. Damaged protective devices and parts that are not included in the service package
available as an accessory (see the section headed "Care of the tool") must be properly repaired or
replaced by Hilti Service unless otherwise stated in the operating instructions.
▶ Always hold the tool firmly when making a fastening. This will reduce the possibility of the fastener being
deflected by the material into which it is driven.
▶ Never attempt to re-drive a fastener. Never drive a fastener on top of another previously-driven fastener.
This may lead to fastener breakage and jamming.
▶ Always observe the application guidelines. For more information, consult the Hilit Fastening Technology
Manual.
▶ Do not pull the nosepiece back with your hand or with an object. Under certain circumstances, this
could make the tool ready to fire. When the tool is ready to fire, fasteners or the piston could be driven
inadvertently into parts of the body.
Workplace
▶ Make sure that the workplace is well lit.
▶ Operate the tool only in well ventilated working areas.
▶ Drive fasteners only into wood and other suitable wood materials (see "Intended use"): Driving a fastener
into other materials may cause the fastener to break, shatter or to be driven right through.
▶ Before driving fasteners, check that no one is present immediately behind or below the working surface.
▶ Keep the workplace tidy. Objects which could cause injury should be removed from the working area.
Untidiness at the workplace can lead to accidents.
▶ Keep the grips dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
▶ Take the influences of the surrounding area into account. Do not expose the appliance to rain or snow
and do not use it in damp or wet conditions. Do not use the appliance where there is a risk of fire of
explosion.
▶ Concealed electrical cables or gas and water pipes present a serious hazard if damaged while you are
working. Therefore, check the working area before you begin, e.g. using a metal detector. External metal
parts of the appliance or machine may become live, for example, when an electric cable is damaged
accidentally.
▶ Only hold the tool by its insulated gripping surfaces if carrying out work where the insert tool may come
into contact with concealed wiring. Metal parts of the power tool can also become live, resulting in
electric shock, if contact is made with a live cable.
Thermal safety rules
▶ If the tool overheats, remove the gas can and allow the tool to cool down. Do not exceed the specified
maximum fastener driving rate.
▶ Always wear gloves if cleaning or maintenance has to be carried out before the tool has been allowed to
cool down.
Careful handling and use of gas cans.
▶ Read the safety data sheet for the gas can for information about use, care and maintenance and first-aid
measures.
2.2
Careful handling and use of batteries
▶ Observe the special guidelines applicable to the transport, storage and use of lithium-ion batteries.
▶ Do not expose batteries to high temperatures, direct sunlight or fire.
▶ Do not disassemble, crush or incinerate batteries and do not subject them to temperatures over 80 °C
(176 °F).
▶ Do not use or charge batteries that have suffered mechanical impact, have been dropped from a height
or show signs of damage. In this case, always contact your Hilti Service.
▶ If the battery is too hot to touch it may be defective. Put the battery in a place where it is clearly visible
and where there is no risk of fire, at an adequate distance from flammable materials. Allow the battery to
cool down. If it is still too hot to touch after an hour, the battery is faulty. Contact Hilti Service.
