Problem
The espresso is too dark.
The sieve holder cannot
be locked properly even
though there is no powder
in the sieve.
The SINGLE CUP/Double
CUP indicators flash
rapidly.
The STEAM indicator
flashes quickly.
All displays light up
simultaneously 5 times in
succession.
Possible cause
The powder in the sieve
was pressed too hard.
Too much powder.
The sieve is dirty.
The powder is too fine.
The device is calcified.
The holder is defective.
The knob was not reset
after cooling down.
Too little water in the water
tank.
The knob was not reset
after steam was released.
The appliance must be
descaled.
Suggested solution
Next time don't squeeze
the powder so hard.
Adjust the amount of
powder (see Frequently
Asked Questions).
Clean the sieve.
Use coarser powder.
Descale the machine (see:
Cleaning and Care).
Contact a specialist
company.
Turn the knob to the Off
position.
Fill up with water.
Turn the controller to the
Hot Water setting to
dispense hot water. When
the temperature drops, the
pump stops automatically
and you should set the
knob to the off position
Descale the appliance.
