Omomed
Intended purpose
Omomed is a shoulder joint compression
bandage with additional functional
elements.
Indications
All indications which require the
shoulder to be limited, secured or
altered in at least one direction of
mobilisation such as:
• Nonsurgical with anterior shoulder
dislocation and chronic anterior
subluxation
• Painful omarthrosis
• Postoperative after shoulder
stabilisationss
Contraindications
Nonsurgical and postoperative
treatment of posterior shoulder
luxation.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
®
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Note on wearing
It is suitable for continuous use over
a number of weeks. But during longer
periods of rest (e.g. when sleeping) the
support should be removed.

Fitting instructions

• Pull the upper arm/shoulder cap up
over the affected arm (fig. 1).
• Pass the other arm in front of the body
through the triangle of the strap
system (fig. 2).
• Pull the fastened belt backwards over
the head and make sure that the
shoulder cap and the strap triangle
fit properly (figs. 3 – 5).
• Fasten the two straps, which are sewn
together and cross in the armpit of
the healthy side, by passing the longer
strap around the back and then
securing the shorter strap to it. The
hook and loop strip should be facing
the body (fig. 6).
• Pass the white chest strap (sewn onto
the chest ring) through the white loop
on the upper arm specified by the
doctor or technician and then attach
the strap to itself with the hook and
loop fastener (fig. 7).
• Finally readjust the upper arm/
shoulder part and all the straps to
ensure a comfortable fit and reliable
limitation of movement.
