RESIDUAL LIMB COMPRESSION SOCK COMFORT SCS
The Comfort SCS residual limb compression sock is a product for compression therapy after above- and below-
knee amputations and after knee exarticulation.
The new Clima-Comfort technology ensures wearing comfort. The knit rapidly transports moisture away from the
skin to the outside of the fabric. So the skin sweats less. At the same time, the skin receives an optimum oxygen
supply so it cannot dry out. Thus Clima-Comfort guarantees reliable climate exchange, at any time of the year.

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

• Turn the sock inside out almost down to the toe.
• Stretch the double-layered sock with both hands and slip the residual limb in.
• Turn the upper part of the sock back the right way and carefully spread the sock material up the residual limb,
starting at the bottom. Please make sure that the sock fits without wrinkles, and especially that it fits the end of
the residual limb properly.

GENERAL INDICATIONS

• Decongestion of the tissues
• Prevention of oedema
• Improvement of residual limb circulation
• Above-knee amputations, below-knee amputation
GENERAL CONTRAINDICATIONS
• If a clinical examination shows that no compression may be applied.
• Especially open wounds, arterial occlusive disease, decompensated heart failure, congestion dermatitis, acute
thrombophlebitis, unreduced oedema.
• If the user is still in a poor general condition and/or there is nobody available to assist him.
CARE
Initially the sock should be washed separately. Then, the Össur sock should be washed by hand or at the delicate
wash setting of your washing machine at 40 °C – every day. Wash socks separately or together with similar coloured
fabrics. Do not use bleaching agents or softeners – please use detergents for woollens. Rinse the sock several
times afterwards! After washing please hang your sock up to dry or spin dry immediately – using the delicate wash
setting. Do not leave lying moist on or in a towel. Do not leave to dry on heaters or in direct sunlight. Össur socks
are not to be cleaned chemically, either with spot removers or using benzene.


Please note that many shower gels, soaps, bath additives, deodorants, perfumes, alcohol sprays etc. can irritate
the skin with their perfumes and/or colours. These should not be used when wearing Össur medical aids to
prevent possible skin problems.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
• Before using Össur medical aids, the technician of your trust must check and document the circumstances
exactly (see Contraindications).
• Only wear compression socks after asking your doctor. The compression sock may only be dispensed by trained
staff.
• If pain or skin irritation develops while wearing the garment, please take off your Össur medical aid straight
away and consult your doctor or a specialist dealer.
• Be careful with sharp finger nails or jewellery! To avoid damaging the knit, slide your fingers in carefully.
• The choice of the right size is absolutely vital for the function and wearing comfort.
