2. Intended Use of the Device

Comparisons of small surfaces or profi les need
to be performed with suffi cient precision, if
the specimens of comparison can be observed
simultaneously.
If only a macroscope with just one imaging beam
path is available for such comparisons, then, de-
pending on the interruption of observation by a
change of objective, high demands are made on
the memory of the observer. Therefore, it is im-
possible to rule out incorrect interpretation in the
case of specimens with very minor differences in
the surface or profi le.
The Leica FS M Comparison Macroscope with
two imaging beam paths, is designed for compar-
ing structures of items such as those listed below
in split images and composite images in forensic
laboratories, document printing facilities, mints
and banks, and documenting the results on pho-
tographs and videos:
– Evidence on fi red ammunition pieces
– Toolmarks
– Documents
Many types of illuminators are available for dif-
ferent applications (including UV light).
2. Intended Use of the Device
The instrument is compliant with EC Directives
2006/95/EG on low voltage electrical equipment
and 2004/108/EG regarding electromagnetic com-
patibility for laboratory use.
Caution!
The manufacturer assumes no liability for
damage caused by, or any risks arising from
using the device for other purposes than
those for which they are intended or not us-
ing them within the specifi cations of Leica
Microsystems CMS GmbH.
In the event of such, the declaration of con-
formity shall become null and void.
