Safety instructions
Sitting in the wheelchair
n Ensure that the fingers and limbs of the occupant
do not become trapped. Be particularly vigilant
when:
- The occupant is sitting lopsidedly in the wheel-
chair.
- The armrests are lifted backwards.
- The occupant does not have complete control of
his/her arms and/or legs.
Using the wheelchair
(see also page 28 for more information)
Note: The Roxx is not fitted as standard with anti-
tipping support. Check whether the wheelchair can
tip over backwards if tilted suddenly backwards.
Note: When travelling up a slope, the centre of
gravity will move backwards, making it easier for
the wheelchair to tip over backwards.
Note: When travelling down a slope, the centre of
gravity will move forwards, making it easier for the
occupant to fall out of the wheelchair.
Note: As a wheelchair user you are vulnerable in
traffic. Ensure that you are visible to other road
users. Observe the applicable traffic regulations.
Note: Avoid infrequently used routes, ensure that
in case of emergency help can be provided.
n In
the
following
cases,
the
accompanying person should be alert to the
possibility
of
the
wheelchair
backwards:
- When the armrests are lifted backwards.
- When the wheel balance/ ride adjustment is
active.

Safety instructions
- When a bag is suspended from the push-handle.
- When the backrest angle is large.
- When travelling up a slope.
- When someone is standing on the tipping lever
and/ or the anti-tipper.
n When self propelling the wheelchair, consider your
hands if there is not much space at the side(s) of the
wheelchair.
n Ensure that the removable sides are folded
downwards before you start to move.
n Accompanying persons must never leave the
wheelchair on a slope without engaging the brake.
n Never tackle obstacles higher than 10 cm on your
own. Only experienced users with sufficient strength
are generally capable of tackling obstacles up to
10 cm in height on their own.
n Engage the brake on the wheelchair before getting
out of the chair or transferring from it.
n Only use the brake to lock the stationary wheels.
The brake is not intended for slowing the wheelchair
down.
n When braking, heat is generated by the friction
between your hands and the hand rims. If you brake
too strongly, your hands can become too hot.
Transporting the wheelchair without the occupant
(see also page 26 and 27 for more information)
The Roxx equipped with a folding frame is easy
to transport in a car. When doing so, consider the
following points:
n Ensure that your fingers do not get caught when
folding up the wheelchair.
n Always carry the wheelchair by the frame, never by
the legrest or armrests.
n Ensure that the wheelchair is completely unfolded
before you use it.
