7. Platinum testing

With the platinum test acid it is possible to distinguish
platinum from other metals, because all other metals
(even pure gold) are dissolved from the test acid, during

8. Silver testing

Our silver test system consists of 2 components (silver
testing agent 1 and 2). Silver test acid 1 contains a
penetrative smelling liquid. Therefore keep this compound
always closed and store it at a good ventilated place.
Silver test 2 contains a powder in a bottle which has to be
filled with 8 ml water (pipette) before use. Shake the liquid
before use for 60 seconds, after this the test is ready to
use.
Application
Give a drop of silver test 1 (not more!) on the abraison on
the touchstone. Then add a drop of silver test 2 on the
same point, so that the two liquids are mixed. Wait 1-2
minutes and watch the reaction. If the sample contains
silver, the color turns to yellow. After further 3 minutes the
