Basic functions

6.1

Sensor principle

The sensor measures the damping of the internal
oscillating circuit in the presence of an electrically
conductive object.
The temperature-compensated measurement value
Proximity can be read out in register 0x00B2. Fig. 6-1
shows two typical curves for Proximity. Sample variation
can alter the steepness of the slope and the offset. In
teach-in, the Proximity value which is set for the switching
distance is stored in Set Point Value (Register 0x003C).
The Proximity value can be used to obtain a qualitative
evaluation of the damping state. Since this product is a
binary switch, no quantitative conclusions about the exact
value [mm] can be derived from the Proximity value.
Due to the physical non-linearity of the damping curve, the
Proximity value over distance is also non-linear.

changed when a teach is performed and must
not be manually changed!

The configuration for the teach-in of the switch points can
be set using Switch Point Configuration (Register 0x003D).
6.2.1
When switch point logic is High active, the switching
output in normally open (NO) configuration goes to High
when the object is present. For Low active, the logic is
inverted.
