HWAM Elements - Quick Guide
Read the Instruction manual thoroughly before lighting HWAM Elements for the first time.
Types of fuel
HWAM Elements is only approved to use wood pellets as fuel and should only be used to burn this type
of fuel. Burning other types of fuel is at the user's risk and will mean that the guarantee will lapse.
Requirements on the chimney
The smoke from HWAM Elements models is cooled to a relatively high degree by comparison with
conventional stov es. The height and degree of insulation of the chimney must therefore allow for
proper draught conditions to avoid any inconvenience resulting from the smoke. Chimney draught
will be ideal at a value of at least 12-14 Pa in a heated stove in normal operation.
Handling wood pellets
Wood pellets are convenient fuel that require no drying or splitting and need only be stored in a
dry place.
Handle
Handle for the tilting device for the bottom plate (11). The lower part is a shaking device. Moving the
handle up and down moves the sloping bottom of the fuel hopper (2), which shakes out any remain-
ing pellets.
When the handle is in top position, the bottom plate will be tilted to allow ashes to be removed from
the ash-drawer (10).
The handle for regulating heat output (12). The higher the position of the handle, the greater the
heat.
It is important to remove all ashes from the bottom of the combustion chamber and from
the pellet hopper before lighting the stove. Use the tools which accompany your stove.
Lighting procedure
It is easiest to light HWAM Elements with the same wood pellets that will be used as fuel. The following
procedure should be employed when lighting and stoking HWAM Elements for the first time.
1. Set the handle (12) in accordance with your heating requirement.
2. Put two fire-lighters on the bottom plate over the air gap (9).
3. Open the side door (5) and fill the pellet hopper with as many pellets as necessary for your heat-
ing need and required combustion time (1-2 kg per hour). The wood pellets must be visible in the
combustion area. The fire-lighter must lie in between the wood pellets in the combustion area.
4. Light the fire-lighters.
HWAM Elements is constructed with an airtight fuel hopper, which ensures that the fire will not
spread to the contents of the hopper.
Combustion phase
As long as yellow flames can be seen, the stove is in its first combustion phase, which lasts for ap-
proximately 60-70% of total combustion time. HWAM Elements' heat output can be regulated from
4-9 kW.
Important! The ash drawer (10) and the side door (5) must not be open during the light-
ing and combustion phases and must always be closed when the stove is in use, or the
