TX-UMTS – Extension module
For Your Safety
Intended use
The extension module TX-UMTS is a wireless modem plug in for the HMIs of
the TX700 series and enables the TX7... to communicate via the internet with
machines and systems worldwide. The extension module provides four LED
indicators for module and network status and a microSIM slot.
The devices may only be used as described in these instructions.
Any other use is not in accordance with the intended use. Turck accepts no li-
ability for any resulting damage.
General safety instructions

The device may only be assembled, installed, operated, parameterized and
maintained by professionally-trained personnel.
■
The device only meets the EMC requirements for industrial areas and is not
suitable for use in residential areas.
■
The device may only be used in accordance with applicable national and
international regulations, standards and laws.
■
Only operate the devices in areas where the operation of wireless equipment
is allowed.
■
Any extended stay within the area the UMTS antenna may be harmful to
health. Maintain radiation limits and minimum distances when selecting the
installation location for the antenna.
■
The radiation UMTS antenna may impair the operation of medical equip-
ment. Maintain an additional distance from active radiation sources up to the
maximum transmission distance.
■
When installing the antenna outside: Observe lightning protection e.g. ac-
cording to EN 62305.
■
Switch off the device when working on the antenna.

The I/O channels are SELV (Safety Extra - Low Voltage) according to European
standards.

When installing the antenna outside: Observe lightning protection e.g.

according to EN 62305.
Do not override lightning protection zone concept by the antenna and its

feed line.
Remove the protective cover before installation, mount the module as shown

in fig. 2 and connect the supplied antenna (see fig. 1).
ATTENTION
Risk of short circuits
Destruction of electronics!
Do not connect or disconnect teh device when energized.

Maintenance
The devices must be cleaned at regular intervals with a damp cloth.

Repair
The device must not be repaired by the user. The device must be decommis-
sioned if it is faulty. Refer to our return acceptance conditions when returning
the device to Turck.
Disposal
The device must be disposed of correctly and must not be included in
normal household garbage.
