Safetyprecautions
Clario should only be used by adults and only for normal vacuum-
ing in a domestic environment. The vacuum cleaner features
double insulation and does not need to be earthed.
Never vacuum:
• In wet areas.
• Close to flammable gases, etc.
• Without an s-bag
TM
(this may damage the
cleaner).
A safety device is fitted which prevents the cover
closing without an s-bag
TM
. Do not attempt to
force cover shut.
Never vacuum:
• Sharp objects.
• Fluids (this can cause serious damage to the
machine).
• Hot or cold cinders, lit cigarette butts, etc.
• Fine dust from plaster, concrete, flour or ash,
for example. The above can cause serious damage
to the motor – damage which is not covered by
the warranty.
Electrical cable precautions:
• A damaged cable must be replaced by an authorised AEG-
Electrolux service centre. Damage to the cleaner cable will
not be covered by the warranty.
• Never pull or lift the vacuum cleaner by the cable.
• Disconnect the plug from the mains before
cleaning or maintenance of the vacuum cleaner.
• Regularly check that the cable is not damaged.
Never use the vacuum cleaner if the cable is
damaged.
All service and repairs must be carried out by an authorised
AEG-Electrolux service centre.
Always keep the vacuum cleaner in a dry place.
Beforestarting
11 Check that the s-bag
TM
dustbag and motor filter are in
place.
12 Insert the hose until the catch clicks to engage (press the
catch to release the hose).
1 Attach the extension wand or telescopic wand (only on
certain models) to the hose handle and floor nozzle (to take
them apart again, twist and pull).
14 Extend the cord and plug it into the wall socket.
The vacuum cleaner has an integrated cord winder.
15 Press the foot pedal to rewind the cable (take hold of the
plug to prevent it striking you).
16 Press the On/Off button with the foot to start the vacuum
cleaner.
* Certain models only
17* Adjust suction power using the suction control on the
vacuum cleaner or the suction control on the hose handle.
18 A practical parking feature (as well as minimizing the risk of
backache) makes things easier when pausing during clean-
ing.
19 The parking feature makes it easier to move and store the
vacuum cleaner.
Use the nozzles as follows:
Carpets: Use the carpet/hard floor nozzle with the
lever in position (20). Reduce suction power for small carpets.
Hard floors: Use the carpet/hard floor nozzle wit
the lever in position (21).
Wooden floors: Use the parquet nozzle (certain models only, 6).
Upholstered furniture: Use the upholstery nozzle (10).
Crevices, corners, etc.: Use the crevice nozzle (9).
Using the power socket (requires a Clario equipped with a
designated power socket. The power nozzle is available as an
accessory.)
22 Attach the nozzle to the tube (certain models only).
2 Connect the power nozzle to the socket on the vacuum
cleaner.
24 Use the clips to secure the cable along the tubes and hose.
25 The power nozzle starts operating when the vacuum
cleaner is switched on.
Using the turbo nozzle (certain models only)
26 Attach the nozzle to the tube.
27 Adjust the suction power by opening or closing the air vent.
Note: Do not use the power or turbo nozzle on fur rugs, rugs with
long fringes or a pile depth exceeding 15 mm. To avoid damaging
the carpet, do not keep the nozzle stationary whilst the brush
is rotating. Do not pass the nozzle across electric cables, and be
sure to switch off the vacuum cleaner immediately after use.
Replacingthes-bag
/cleningthefilter
TM
28 The dust bag, s-bag
must be replaced when the indicator
TM
window is completely red. Read the indicator with the floor
nozzle lifted up from the carpet.
29 Remove the hose and open the lid.
0 Pull the cardboard holder to remove the s-bag
TM
. This auto-
matically closes the dust bag and stops dust from leaking
out.
1 Insert a new s-bag
by pushing the cardboard holder
TM
straight down in its tracks. Close the lid.
Note: Replace the s-bag
even if it is not full (it may be blocked).
TM
Also replace after using carpet-cleaning powder. Use only AEG-
Electrolux original dust bags –

Classic, s-bag
TM
Clinic or s-bag
TM
Anti-odour.
2
Replacing the motor filter (Ref. No. EF54)
Should be done with every 5th replacement of the dust bag,
s-bag
TM
2 Depress the catch and open the lid.
 Remove the old filter
4 Insert a new filter and close the lid.
Takingcareofthefilters
The more often the better for the efficiency of the cleaner.
There are four types of exhaust filter, depending on the vacuum
cleaner model:
• Hepa H12 washable (Ref. No. EFH12W)
• Hepa H12 non washable (Ref. No. EFH12)
• Microfilter with frame (Ref. No. EF17)
• Microfilter (Ref. No. EF2)
Replacement of the microfilter and the non-washable
HEPA filter
The filters must always be replaced with new ones and cannot
be washed.
5 Open and remove the lid, remove the filter (every fifth bag
change).
6 Insert a new filter and replace the lid as shown in the picture.
Cleaning the washable HEPA filter
(ref. no. EFH12W, some models only)
Should be done with every 5th replacement of the dust bag,
s-bag
TM
7 Open and remove the lid, then remove the filter.
8 Rinse the inside (dirty side) of the filter in warm tap water.
Tap the filter frame to remove excess water. Repeat four
times and allow the filter to dry. Note: Do not use cleaning
agents and avoid touching the delicate filter surface.
9 Replace the filter and lid as shown.
Cleaning the hose and nozzle
The vacuum cleaner stops automatically if the nozzle, tube, hose
or filters and s-bag
becomes blocked. In such cases, disconnect
TM
from mains and allow to cool for 20-0 minutes. Clear blockage
and/or replace filters and s-bag
TM
and restart.
Cleaning tubes and hoses
40 Use a cleaning strip or similar to clear the tubes and hose.
41 It may also be possible to remove the obstruction in the
hose by squeezing it. However, be careful in case the
obstruction is caused by glass or needles caught inside the
hose.
Note: The warranty does not cover any damage to the hose
caused by cleaning it.
Cleaning the floor nozzle
42 To avoid deterioration of suction power, frequently clean the
carpet/hard floor nozzle. The easiest way to clean it is by
using the hose handle.
Cleaning the power nozzle
(certain models only)
4 Disconnect from the mains, and remove entangled threads
etc. by snipping them away with scissors.
44 Use a screwdriver to remove the nozzle cover.
45 Remove the brush cylinder and bearings, then clean as
necessary.
46 To clean the wheels, gently lever them from their mountings
and clean as necessary.
47 Replace the cover and make sure it is securely fastened.
Cleaning the turbo nozzle
(certain models only)
48 Remove the nozzle from the vacuum cleaner tube and
remove entangled threads etc. by snipping them away with
scissors. Use the hose handle to vacuum the nozzle.
