Silicone (Skeo liners)
Skeo liners are made of silicone. They improve shock absorption and wearer
comfort. Depending on the medical treatment plan, they can also be used for
compression therapy.
These liners are especially appropriate for residual limbs that are well
covered by soft muscle tissue and do not have any prominent bony struc
tures.
Ottobock recommends a specific weight-bearing prosthetic socket with
distal end contact and the use of a shuttle lock for TT prostheses.
Ottobock recommends using a shuttle lock, KISS lanyard system or ProSeal
system for TF prostheses.
Copolymer
Copolymer liners are made of TPE gel (a thermoplastic elastomer). They
effectively reduce shear forces and contribute to skin care by releasing a
medical grade mineral oil.
These liners are appropriate for almost all residual limb shapes.
The plaster cast technique can be selected freely. The liner used determines
the appropriate suspension system.
Polyurethane
Polyurethane liners are made of a polyurethane gel. The material is vis
coelastic. It adapts very well to the form and structure of the residual limb
and protects very well against impact forces.
These liners are appropriate for sensitive residual limbs, for instance with
scar tissue and bony structures.
Ottobock recommends a total surface weight-bearing socket (the "Harmony"
principle) with a harmony system or an exhaust valve.
