Side-Discharging the
Clippings
Use the side discharge for cutting very tall grass.
If the grass bag is on the machine, remove it before
side-discharging the clippings; refer to Removing the
Grass Bag (page 13).

Important:
The machine has a safety switch that
prevents you from starting the machine unless
you first install the mulch plug securely on the
machine; refer to Mulching the Clippings (page
12).
Installing the Side-Discharge
Chute
Unlock, unlatch, and lift up the side deflector and
install the side-discharge chute (Figure 33).

Removing the Side-Discharge
Chute
To remove the side-discharge chute, lift up the side
deflector, remove the side-discharge chute, and lower
the side-discharge deflector.
Important:
Lock the side-discharge deflector
after you close it (Figure 34).
