BACKWASH WATER DISCHARGE OPTIONS

For the backwash water a wastewater connection in accordance with DIN 1986-100 must be in place.
The dimensioning depends on conditions on site (e.g. wastewater pipe gradient, number of pipe bends,
length of the wastewater pipe, etc.). The dimensioning must at least allow all the wastewater to be dis-
charged at the same time.
In all options, a free discharge must be ensured in accordance with DIN EN 1717.
For convenient operation and maintenance, a space of at least 250 mm should be
maintained above and below the domestic water station (see fig. 6 V).
Fig. 6 I
If there is no wastewater connection an appropriately sized bucket can be used.
The following points must be noted if a bucket is used for backwashing:
/
If the mains pressure is high, water can splash out of the bucket. In this case, damage to property close
to the domestic water station is possible.
/
When the bucket is half-filled, the backwashing process must be stopped. Otherwise it is possible for
the bucket to overflow. Therefore the bucket must be adequately dimensioned and the backwashing
should be carried out quickly.
Fig. 6 II
If it is not possible to provide a wastewater connection directly beneath the domestic water station, the
flushing water can be fed through a hose several metres to the next wastewater connection A kink-free
course at a steady incline is important!
The connection of a hose is carried out as follows:
/
Remove the handwheel for backwashing by pulling it firmly downward. The handwheel is only de-
mountable in the zero position, i.e. the backwash markings (see fig. 7) must line up one above another.
/
Unscrew the union nut, item no. 26 (see fig. 8).
/
Insert the hose connection piece into the flushing valve of the filter and fasten it with the union nut.
/
Insert a hose (O.D. max. 16 mm, I.D. 12 mm) from below through the handwheel, and then slide it onto
the hose connection piece.
/
Remount the handwheel for backwashing. Again, this is only possible in the zero position!
Fig. 6 III and 6 IV
If the backwash water is discharged via a drainage pipe of PP, the hose connection piece must not be
mounted. This ensures that the free discharge at the filter, which is due to design, will be effective.
Fig. 6 V
Backwash water discharge is also possible through a floor drain.
