Utilisation
Before using the expansion joints, observe their agent-resistance (in case of doubt, see
resistance list).
To pass through abrasive agents, and in case of high flow rates or turbulences, guiding
pipes must be installed in the expansion joints.
When using them, the operating data listed in the dimension diagrams, the construction
drawings, and on the type plate shall be taken as limit values. STENFLEX
liability for any damage caused by operation outside these limits. The operator is res-
ponsible for making sure these stipulations are adhered to (e.g. by using technical safety
devices).
Detailed installation and operating instructions containing the required screw torques
are enclosed with each expansion joint.
Inspection and Maintenance
The operator must make sure the expansion joints are easily accessible, and visual
inspections can be carried out regularly.
Check the expansion joints in compliance with the applicable regulations to make sure
they are intact. In case of defects (e.g. blistering, surface cracks, or irregular deforma-
tions), contact our Technical Advisory Service. Repairs are inadmissible.
Check the Shore hardness of the flexible rubber elements at regular intervals.
If the hardness exceeds 83 Shore A, the element must be exchanged for safety reasons.
Do not clean the pipeline system with chemically aggressive agents. Observe the agent-
resistance!
The expansion joints can be cleaned with soap and warm water. Sharp-edged objects,
wire brushes, or sandpaper may not be used for cleaning purposes.
