4. Commissioning
4.1 Preparation for operation
The picture on page 20 shows the
delivery condition of the device.
The packaging must be removed in
accordance with statutory and official
waste disposal regulations.
4.2 Using brake fluid container
The pictures on pages 21 show the
steps necessary to commission the
device.
4.3 Replace empty brake fluid
container
The pictures on page 22 show the
steps necessary to replace the brake
fluid container.
5. Bleeding
5.1 General advice on bleeding brake
systems
The bleeding regulations of the
vehicle manufacturer must always
be observed and complied with!

Work on brakes may only
be performed by mechanics with
corresponding specialist knowledge
and workshop equipment. In general,
the data in the original documents
of the vehicle manufacturer must be
followed.
The pictures on page 23 show the basic
approach when changing the brake
fluid of brake systems.
Caution: If the actuating travel of the
brake pedal is too long after repeated,
vigorous actuation of the brake pedal
or the pressure build-up is too "soft",
the brake system must be bled again in
accordance with the vehicle manufac-
turer's data.
Every time the system is filled or bled
and after every change of brake fluid,
a leak, operation and effectiveness test
must be performed on the brake sys-
tem!
6 Disposal
6.1 Brake fluid
Used brake fluid must be collected,
sorted by type, in a suitable collect-
ing container (ATE-220-litre disposal
system). Used brake fluid must not be
mixed with other fluids as otherwise it
must be disposed of as expensive toxic
waste.
In compliance with statutory and official
waste disposal regulations, the used
brake fluid must be disposed of at an
authorised waste disposal or recycling
plant.
6.2 Container
The brake fluid containers must be
emptied completely and disposed of in
accordance with statutory and official
waste disposal regulations.
6.3 Device
The device must be returned to your
sales partner or disposed of in accord-
ance with the statutory and official
waste disposal regulations.
7. Storage
7.1 Brake fluid
Brake fluid must always be hermeti-
cally sealed and stored only in original
containers. It must not be possible for
children and other persons who cannot
read the inscription and warning labels
to access the brake fluid.
7.2 Device
The device must be stored in a clean
and dry environment. The device must
be inaccessible to unauthorised per-
sons.

8. Maintenance/repair
8.1 Device
Maintenance and repair work may only
be performed by specialist personnel!
8.2 Faults during operation
• After activation device does not oper-
ate, an inspection reveals no obvious
fault:
The device must be given to your sales
partner for repair.
8.3 Maintenance/repair at Customer
Service
The device must be given to the sales
partner. The device must be sent in
adequate packaging. ATE assumes
no liability for any damage during
transport. Shipping charges are borne
by the sender.
Repairs must be arranged directly with
Continental Aftermarket GmbH in the
case of warranty.
