INSTALLATION, OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR COOKER HOOD MODEL CHIC

The equipment is constructed in accordance with European Standards and the requirements included in the following Directives: 73/23 EEC (electric-low
tension safety), 89/336 EEC (electromagnetic compatibility), 93/68 EEC (EC marking regulations).
Before installing and/or using the hood:
read all the instructions thoroughly;
make sure that the voltage (V) and frequency (Hz) ratings indicated on the plate inside the hood unit correspond to the ones available in the installation place.
It is recommended that only specialized personnel install the cooker hood.

INSTALLATION

The unit must be fitted at a distance of at least 65 cm. from the cooking hob. It must not be mounted above cookers fitted with top radiant plate. The
stale air must be discharged in a manner complying with current regulations.
The following fixtures for wall mounting are provided with the cookerhood (Fig.1):
Drill the wall and secure the cabinet hanging wall rail (A), as shown in Fig. 0, with the plugs (B) and screws (C) taking into account the minimum distance of the
device from the hob is 650 mm (Fig. 1)
Attach the hood to the cabinet hanging wall rail and align it using the screws (D) (E).
Secure the locking clamps (Fig. 1B).
Secure the bracket and chimney mounting screws to the wall (Fig. 1C).
EMPLOYMENT
This cooker hood can operate in either ducting or re-circulation air extraction.
DUCTING (air ducted outside ). The waste gases and vapors are ducted outside utilizing a ducting pipe. This pipe must be of an adequate diameter and
connected to the discharge fitting (Fig. 3). Do not connect this ducting pipe to flues where other appliances are installed (cookers (range /agas) water
heaters, boilers, etc.).
Where utilizing a ducting cooker hood there are other appliances which operate at the same time such as gas or wood ranges, boilers etc. always
ensure there is a suitable and adequate external air supply to the kitchen or room as the cooker hood extracts air which is required for a correct
combustion.
Do not use the active carbon filter for ducting cookerhoods.
Filtering (internal re-circulation) (Fig.4). Waste gases and vapours are filtered through the carbon filter, depurated and re-circulated into the kitchen. To mount
this filter, first of all remove the metal anti-grease filter (Fig.5), insert and turn the carbon filter into position ( Fig 6).
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
This equipment must be connected to a grounding plant.
Two types of electrical connection can be used:
a)
Using a standard plug to be connected to the power cable and inserted in a mains socket which must be accessible (so that the plug can be disconnected
when servicing is carried out).
b)
By means of a fixed mains connection, fitting a bipolar switch with contacts opening of at least 3 mm. The ground connection (yellow-green wire) must not be
interrupted. Refer to the plate inside the hood for the mains voltage and frequency ratings.

OPERATION

The hood is supplied with a multi speed motor. The hood should be run at low speed under normal conditions and at higher speeds only when there is a heavy
build-up of fumes or odours. Ideally, the hood should be switched on when starting cooking and kept on until all odours have been eliminated.
ELECTROMECHANICAL PUSH BUTTONS
The controls are provided with buttons (Fig.8) for switching on the light TL, for switching on the motor and selecting the operating speed.
ELECTRONIC CONTROLS
The (Fig.7) controls have buttons for switching on the TL ling, for switching on the motor and selecting the T1-T2-T3-T4 operating speed
When the T1 button is pushed for the first time, the motor starts running at the 1st speed; when the button is pushed for the second time, the motor turns off at any
set speed. Buttons T2-T3-T4 turn on the motor respectively at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th speed. Press T1 to turn the motor off. The luminous LEDs L1, L2, L3, L4
indicate the set speed.
AUTO POWER OFF: To activate the auto power off, first turn on the hood and, then, push down the "T1" button for a few seconds until all LEDs start flashing. By
pressing one of the buttons (T1, T2, T3, T4) it is possible to program the auto power off time, which will be different according to the button pressed (T1= 5 minutes,
T2=10 minutes, T3=15 minutes, T4=20 minutes). The set speed can be changed during the auto power off time. When the auto power off option corresponds to the
previously set speed, the speed LED flashes; if the option is different, the speed LED is fixed.
FILTER TIMER: After the hood has worked for 30 hours, all LEDS will switch on with a fixed light for 30 seconds when the hood is turned off indicating that the
aluminium filters need to be cleaned. The timer will reset if the T1+T4 button is pressed for a few seconds with the exhaust fan turned off. If this button is not
pressed, the same operation will occur again once the hood is switched off again. This operation will occur every 30 hours, until 120 functioning hours are reached.
Once the hood has worked for 120 hours and it is turned off, all the LEDs will turn on with a flashing light for the following 30 seconds indicating the that aluminium
filters need cleaning and, if the hood is a filtering hood, the active carbon filters need to be replaced. Once the timer has been reset (by keeping the T1+T4 button
pressed down for a few seconds with the exhaust fan turned off), the entire process will present itself again after the next 30 exhausting hours.
MAINTENANCE AND WARNINGS
Always disconnect the hood from the mains before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning operation.
Particular attention should be paid to the metallic fat-retaining filters that are designed to trap particles of fat contained in the fumes. The metallic fat-retaining
filters must be washed at least once a month with detergent in hot water (or in the dish-washer).
To remove the metal anti-grease filter Fig.5 push the front of the filter upwards just a few millimetres towards the wall. At this point simply pull-out the filter. Make
sure the filter is thoroughly dry before replacing.
ATTENTION: the grease collected in the filters can easily catch fire and it is therefore extremely important to clean the metallic filters on a regular basis
as per instructions.
The active carbon filter traps cooking odours, filters and depurates the air which is then re-circulated into the kitchen. Do not wash the active carbon filter. It
should be replaced twice or three times a year depending on cookerhood use. Request your local Service Assistance Centre or the manufacturing company for
replacement filters.
To replace the active carbon filter, first of all remove the metal anti-grease filter (Fig. 5). Remove the active carbon filter which is positioned above the metal anti-
grease filter. Gently turn the active carbon filter until released (Fig.6).
To mount the new active carbon filter invert the procedure for removal.
To replace the HALOGEN LIGHTS (Fig.2) utilizing a screwdriver gently lever off the support ring which secures the glass cover to the light. Remove the glass
cover to access the bulb. Always use replacement bulbs of the same specifications (halogen max. 20 W, 12 Volt). Replace the glass cover and secure in position
with the support ring.
The exterior of the hood is cleaned using a soft, damp cloth and neutral detergent. Do not use solvents, petrol-based or abrasive substances.
Never singe or flambé directly underneath the hood. Take particular care when frying to ensure that the oil does not catch fire.
BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO KNOCK THE GLASS WITH HARD AND/OR HEAVY OBJECTS.
