The rapid lever control permits speed adjustment from max. to zero to max.
r.p.m. by acting directly on the lever, set on a determined sector of 360°, with an
intermediate dead point corresponding to zero r.p.m.
The control consists of a lever mounted on a collar 3 which is tightened by me-
ans of a pin to bushing 2 provided with a helical slot, of clutch plug 12, control
shaft 6, control support 5 and pin 9.
OPERATION
Consider the variator in motion, with output shaft at zero r.p.m. Manoeuvring
by hand the lever in one direction, you get, proportionally to shift, a gradual
adjustment of the variator output shaft r.p.m. for one direction. By manoeuvring
in the opposite direction, you get the r.p.m. reduction till zero and, keeping
on, the motion reverse, with gradual adjustment for the opposite direction of
rotation.
Better, we get the adjustment of the hydraulic pump delivery determining the
variation of r.p.m., displacing the inner ring of the variator. The mechanism
transforms the lever angular movement into an axial movement of the shaft 6,
fitted to the ring, through pin 9 engaged on the helical slots of bush 2 turning
along with the lever 3.
LEVER CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
The control is provided with a ring nut 12 which acts as a clutch; to adjust fric-
tion, loosen screw 18, tighten or loosen the ring nut 12, until the lever collar 3
is sufficiently clamped. After the adjustment, re-tighten screw 18.

"ZERO" ADJUSTMENT

Set the lever control so as to obtain zero r.p.m. at the output; adjust the zeroing
sleeve 13 until the balls take a position in the reference groove; lock the zeroing
sleeve 13 gently fixing the bead 28 by means of some Loctite 243.
