6. Cleaning
Clean and inspect the Contour Arc Screen after and prior to each use. Clean the Contour
Arc Screen with a damp cloth unless heavily soiled. Should further cleaning be required,
clean with mild soap and water and pat dry. If necessary for cleaning and inspection,
disassemble the Contour Arc Screen from the helmet carrier. Make sure that before
usage all components are correctly re-assembled.
The Contour Arc Screen comes with a permanent premium ant-fog coating. In case the
face screen is fogging up, it is a clear indication of deposits on the face screen, which
should be removed as described above.
7. Storage
For best results store and transport the Contour Arc Screen in a protective bag. (NOTE:
Various packing materials contain solvents which may decrease the level of protection.)
Store and transport the Contour Arc Screen out of sunlight or artificial UV light in a clean,
dry environment for up to 5 years. The storage temperature should be between -10°C
and 45°C.
8. Maintenance, Repair and Replacement
The Contour Arc Screen (including the permanently attached chin guard) must be
replaced, if it:
• is scratched or damaged
• has been exposed to an arc flash
• has been exposed to chemicals, oils or lubes *
• is damaged by mechanical impact *
• has reached its normal life span (see Section 9)
• has been exposed to high heat or over exposed to sun light *
• has been exposed to fire for long periods of time *
* ATTENTION: Damage caused by the aforementioned incidents may not be visible to
the end user.
ATTENTION: The protection for eyes and face against the thermal and mechanical
hazards of an arc flash can only be provided by using original CENTURION components
and replacement parts.
9. Inspection Criteria and Determination of End of Useful Life
Inspect and replace any damaged or worn components. Never re-use the Contour Arc
Screen, if it has been in an arc flash incident or if any replacement criteria delineated
above is fulfilled.
The normal lifespan of the Clear-Grey HT screen is 10 years and the Light-Green screen
is 5 years, however, CENTURION recommends to replace the face screen in the event of
any of the criteria listed in section 8 being met.
The Contour Arc Screen is made from high quality materials by leading manufacturing
processes and designed for long term use. Nevertheless like any other product made
from plastic or plastic alloys it suffers from typical combinations of daily work factors, such
as UV radiation, contact with oil and lubes, scratches and mechanical impacts like all
plastic products. For reasons of safety the user is requested to track the time of use and
to consider a safe time for replacement. This is a general safety recommendation and
independent to the CENTURION arc protective technology.
Manufacturing date: The Contour Arc face screen is marked with a manufacturing date
and batch number as below:
W1808-0356 (production year and month ie August 2018 and product batch number)

10. Hazards Assessment
In order to select appropriate eye and face protection systems, a hazard and risk analysis
shall be carried out by well-trained experts and the eye, face and/or helmet should never
be used in environments with a higher risk rating than the protection rating indicated on
the marking. According to this Hazard Risk Assessment, the Contour Arc Screen should
be combined with further arc flash protective PPE such as Arc rated workwear, Arc rated
gloves, etc.
Inappropriate usage, e.g. at higher arc exposures than the product is approved for, may
cause severe damages to the life and health of the user.
11. REACH Declaration
Centurion confirms that this product or packaging does not contain any of the listed
SVCH in amounts greater than 0.1% as defined REACH Article 57, Annex XIV, Directive
67/548/EEC.
