2. INSTALLATION
1) Clean the engine assembly/primary gear case mating

surfaces and both sides of the primary gear case gasket
thoroughly using a shop towel and degreasing cleaning
2
solvent.

2) Apply beads [1.0 - 5.0 mm (0.04 - 0.20 in) thick] of liquid
gasket (ThreeBond
4 the primary gear case gasket.
• Assemble within 90 minutes after application of the liquid
5
gasket. If the parts have been left unassembled for 90
minutes or longer, remove the old gasket and apply a
6
new gasket again.
• Do not fill the oil case with engine oil and do not start the
7
engine for 15 minutes after assembly.

3) Install the two 6 x 10 mm dowel pins and a new primary
9
gear case gasket on the primary gear case.
Set the thrust spring on the primary driven gear, and install
the primary driven gear on the primary gear case.

4) While aligning the primary driven gear with the engine
11
assembly installation hole, lower the engine assembly
slowly and install it on the primary gear case.

• Check that the thrust spring is set on the primary driven
gear before lowering the engine assembly.

• Lower the engine assembly while holding it level to the
ground. Take care not to damage the throttle arm bracket
14
during lowering the engine assembly.
15 NOTICE
Do not ruin the spline part of the primary driven gear.

5) Loosely tighten the four 8 x 75 mm flange bolts, four 8 x 55
mm hex bolts, four 8 mm washers and the two 8 x 35 mm

flange bolts from the underside of the primary gear case.
