4. Transport and storage
The NAUTILUS 8/1 can be transported and stored in upright or horizontal posi-
tion. During storage and transportation secure the pump to prevent it tipping
or rolling and thus avoid injury or damage.
If the pump will be out of service for an extended period, you should turn over
the pump at regular intervals (approx. every 2 months) to prevent the seals
sticking.
5. Pump operation
CAUTION: The NAUTILUS 8/1 submersible pump is designed
exclusively for use by trained fire department staff.
5.1.
Required personal protection equipment
No special personal protection equipment is required to operate the
NAUTILUS 8/1.
5.2.
Using the pump
1. Before using the NAUTILUS 8/1 check that the power supply matches the
details on the type plate.
CAUTION: Only connect the submersible pump to a socket that is in
perfect working order and protected by an appropriate fuse.
CAUTION: According to DIN 14425 the pump may only be run without
additional safeguards on generators that comply with DIN 14685 and
on switch cabinets for generators built into firefighting vehicles in line
with DIN 14686. If any other power source is used to power the
NAUTILUS 8/1 outside of fire service operations, a portable protective
device according to DIN VDE 0661 must be fitted between the socket
and the connecting plug (e.g. Piece No. 933007).
CAUTION: Failure to observe the instructions above can cause dama
ge to the submersible-type pump or danger of electric shock.
2. Check the pump's direction of rotation (see item 5.2. "Checking the
direction of rotation" in this Guide) and change if needed. Position the plug
in an area that is safe from flooding and protect against moisture.
