4.5 Road traffic regulation of Germany

Your SO6 is approved for road use, but insurance must still be taken out with the data confirmation sheet. The insurance
sticker must be affixed to the back in the area below the light. Only then may you drive on the road. If you take part in road
traffic with the scooter, your SO6 is subject to the local traffic regulations like any other vehicle. Before taking your SO6 to
the street, make sure you have read and understood the following paragraphs carefully.
§ 10 Permissible traffic areas
(1) Within built-up areas, PLEVs (personal light electric vehicles) with a maximum design speed of not less than 12 km/h
may only be driven on structurally designed cycle paths, cycle lanes (sign 237 in conjunction with sign 295 of Annex 2 to
the Road Traffic Regulations) and cycle paths (sign 244.1 of Annex 2 to the Road Traffic Regulations). If these are not
available, the vehicle may be driven on carriageways or in low-traffic areas (sign 325.1 of Annex 3 to the Road Traffic
Regulations).
(2) Outside built-up areas, PLEVs with a maximum design speed of not less than 12 km/h may only be driven on structurally
designed cycle paths and lanes. If these are not available, the vehicle may be driven on carriageways.
(3) Within built-up areas, PLEVs with a maximum design speed of less than 12 km/h may only be driven on footpaths (sign
239 Annex 2 to the Road Traffic Regulations), on shared foot- and cycle paths (sign 240 of Annex 2 to the Road Traffic
Regulations) and in pedestrian zones (sign 242.1 of Annex 2 to the Road Traffic Regulations). If no such signs are present, it
is permitted to ride on structurally designed cycle paths, cycle lanes (sign 237 in conjunction with sign 295 of Annex 2 to
the Road Traffic Regulations) and cycle roads (sign 244.1 of Annex 2 to the Road Traffic Regulations). If these are not
available, the vehicle may be driven on carriageways or in low-traffic areas (sign 325.1 of Annex 3 to the Road Traffic
Regulations).
