Short manual AE 5290 XL – Fast to the point
Programming of the corresponding country settings (before first use)
Programming: hold SCAN key and turn on the radio. Select the desired mode for Your
country by turning the channel switch (see the following table and radio passport). Switch off
and on radio for storing.

For temporary use on travelling in most of the EU countries +
Iceland, Norway, Switzerland. In most cases no registration necessary.

Functions
(Lautstärke) Turn radio on, set desired volume (counter clockwise =
off-position)
Squelch (Rauschsperre) knob (first settings: completely counter
clockwise) , later adjust to the point where noise just disappears
select the desired modulation , no function in FM only
(Kanal) Select the desired channel (rotary switch or UP/ DOWN at
microphone)
hold the PTT-button on the microphone until you finished
transmitting (distance 5cm to 10cm to the mouth)
press MEMO shortly – select channel 1 - 5
press MEMO about 2 seconds (Display shows ME) - select memory
number with channel switch (1 – 5) - press MEMO shortly again
press MEMO shortly to toggle between standard channel switch and
memories
press SCAN shortly to start or to stop scanning of all channels
press SCAN longer to start scanning of the 5 memory channels
