- The chain brake can be applied manually by
pushing it forward.

- The brake is released by pulling the lever to-
wards the front handle (Fig. 32).
- Before starting each job:
• check manually that the lever click
releases both forwards and backwards
• put the chain saw on a safe surface
• start the engine
• engage the brake (fig 31)
• take with both hands
• push deeply the throttle trigger for very
few time (around 2 seconds)if the chain starts
moving, if the clicks are not released or the
chain brakelever becomes hard, do not use the
chain saw.

- Periodically dismount the chain brake cover
(Fig. 1 part.25) and clean it from sawdust and
bits of wood.

8.4 CHAIN
MAINTENANCE AND SHARPENING
- When the chain is properly sharpened, the work
is not tiring, the cutting yield is high, and there is
no abnormal wear on the mechanical parts or
the bar.
- If the chain is not sufficiently lubricated, increase
the oil flow by rotating the setting screw of the
pump anticlockwise (Fig. 17).
- Before sharpening, the chain must be
made taught by means of the chain
tensioner (Fig. 10) see the section on
"MOUNTING THE BAR AND CHAIN ".
- After sharpening, slacken the chain as per the
mounting instructions.
- During sharpening, lock the chain, using the
brake.
- Use a round file (specific for chains) 3/16"
(4.8 mm) in diameter (Fig. 18 part.1).
Observe the sharpening angle as in (Fig. 18
part.2).
- Sharpen by filing from the inside outwards (Fig.
18 part.3-4) all the teeth on one side and then
all the teeth on the other.
- Position the blade in such a way that it projects
about 1 mm (Fig. 18 part.5) above the level of
the cutting edges.
8.5 "MINIMUM" ENGINE RPM ADJUSTMENT
- SCREW [t]
- The carburettor of your chainsaw has been
set at standard values during manufacture. To
regulate minimum engine rpm, only screw [T]
can be used (fig. 19).
